About This Pub
Ah, Exale Taproom – what a gem it is down in Walthamstow. From the moment you step in, you can tell it's all about creating that warm, neighbourhood feel, with its mission to bring people together over cracking beers, tasty eats, and a bit of dancing. I've got to say, the beers are spot on; they're brewed fresh on-site every week, so you're getting that hoppy goodness at its best, and they've got a wide range to suit all tastes. Pair that with the food from the Whole Beast kitchen – those burgers and fries are absolute belters, though do keep in mind they're not on offer on Sundays. It's spacious too, with indoor and outdoor spots that make it versatile for everything from a quiet drink to a lively party, and they've been super accommodating for events based on what folks have shared. On the flip side, it's only open a few days a week, which can be a bit limiting if your schedule doesn't align, and it's out in a business park, so you might need to plan your trip a tad. All in all, it's a place that does community right, with a fun, inclusive energy that makes you feel right at home, but it's worth checking the hours to avoid any disappointment.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beers are absolutely spot on – freshly brewed on-site with a great variety of styles, and they're hoppy and full of flavour, making every pint a real treat.
-
The food is a standout, especially those jaw-rattling burgers and addictive fries from the Whole Beast kitchen; it's proper comfort grub that keeps you coming back for more.
-
It's got such a welcoming vibe, all about building community with music, dance, and good times – feels inclusive and fun, perfect for a casual night out or even a birthday bash.
-
Spacious inside and out, with cool upstairs seating and plenty of room, so you never feel cramped, even when it's buzzing.
-
They offer discounts for locals, key workers, and students, which is a nice touch, and it's open late on Fridays and Saturdays till 2am for those who fancy extending the evening.
Cons
-
It's only open four days a week, which might make it tricky to pop in spontaneously if you're not around on those days.
-
No burgers on Sundays, which is a bit of a shame if you're after that signature dish and only have the weekend free.
-
Tucked away in a business park, so it might not be the easiest spot to find if you're not familiar with the area, though it's right in the heart of the Blackhorse Beer Mile.

Pushing just to a 5 star. Homely.. Floating sheep. Rugged. Spotlessly clean and small yet somehow spacious brewery. Nothing reserved...all are welcome here. Clearly the brewer and owners care. Brave enough to offer wide range of styles beer and otherwise. Guess what? Beer tastes lovely.
Really enjoy the beers here.... lots of lovely hazy IPAs. The cheeseburger is off the charts good!!! The fries are also amazing... they make "smoked viking salt" to go on them and it's really addictive. We ordered more to try their smoked garlic ranch, spicy 1000 island and pork fat BBQ sauces and they were all super tasty!!
Go here and have the spice bag. Oh my god the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time!! Aside from that the beers are good, lots of space in and out, good vibes!
We've been coming to Exhale for a few years now and decided it would be perfect for our 40th and 50th birthday party this weekend. So happy we did! Very good communication between myself and Exhale, very accommodating, ensuring we both had a great birthday do! They allow kids until 8 (or 7..can't remember) and allowed us to bring our own cakes. Most of us had food from the bbq pop up, all of which was delicious. Amazing beers as usual, and really good cocktails too! DJ was excellent, and we were even treated to a live sing-along band which we all absolutely loved, belting tunes out from the mezzanine 😆 Best night out I've had in a long time 🥳🥳
Great selection of beers at a good price! Surprising amount of space inside, and the upstairs outside seating is pretty cool.
Absolutely fire smash burger, one of the best I’ve had in ages. I am a sucker for a homemade pickle. Crinkle cut chips in my opinion can be hit or miss, but these were certainly a HIT!
Don’t forget to get a side sauce, chicken fat bbq was delishhhhh.
