About This Pub
Ah, the Red Lion – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its vibrant energy and that classic Grade II listed charm in the heart of Stevenage. I've got to say, the staff are absolute gems; they're so helpful and make every visit feel personal, whether it's remembering your order or just having a chat that brightens your evening. The events lineup is brilliant too – think quiz nights every Wednesday and live music that gets everyone involved, turning an ordinary night into something memorable. Plus, with affordable prices and a solid range of drinks, it's easy to see why it's a go-to for a relaxed catch-up or a bit of fun. On the flip side, though, I've heard a couple of stories about the food not quite hitting the mark, like dishes that didn't live up to expectations and left people wanting more. And watch out for that parking situation; one mate ended up with a hefty fine despite doing everything right, which is a bit of a buzzkill. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time, but maybe stick to the drinks and events if you're after a sure winner – just pop in with an open mind and you're in for a treat.

Brilliant service by Sophie! She was so friendly but when I went back to order more drinks for my friends, she told the other colleague my previous order!!! Amazing, makes it a great atmosphere I. The pub but also so helpful
We recently visited this venue for lunch and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience. The food was so poor that none of us could finish our meals—we actually left hungry. To make matters worse, I’ve now received a £100 parking fine despite correctly entering my registration into the iPad at the bar, as instructed.
I’ve attempted to resolve this issue by calling the venue numerous times over several weeks, leaving multiple voicemails, but I’ve had no response whatsoever. It’s incredibly frustrating to be out of pocket not only for a terrible meal but also for a parking fine that I shouldn’t have received. The lack of accountability and customer service is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to think twice before visiting.
So friendly and welcoming . always hot food and taste amazing . Good prices and deals through out the week and weekends .. manager Bruce is very helpful and welcoming . It really is a friendly pub and now become a regular and even the pubs regulars make u feel welcome
From the moment me and my partner walked in, Jess greeted us with the warmest, most genuine smile that instantly made us feel right at home. Her energy was infectious, and her helpful attitude turned an ordinary night out into something truly memorable. She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, had everything we needed, and felt genuinely welcomed. You can tell she truly cares about her guests and loves what she does. Jess is the kind of person who leaves a lasting impression — we’ll definitely be coming back, and she’s a big reason why!
The pub hosts the Sunday Blues in the evening. We'll worth a visit and there is a full programme of events.
