About This Pub

Ah, the Queen’s Head, it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot every time I pop in. From what I've gathered from folks' chats and my own take on the vibe, it's got this warm, traditional feel that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates over a pint of local ale or a cheeky cocktail. The food's a real highlight – those Sunday roasts are bang on, with tasty meats, a good mix of veg, and massive Yorkies that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. And the staff? Ellie and her crew are top-notch, always on hand with a smile and quick to help, whether it's sorting out a special request or just making sure everything's running smoothly. It's brilliant for watching the footie or enjoying live music, and with the garden area and pet-friendly policy, it's accessible for all sorts. That said, it does get a bit heaving on busier days, so you might have to queue for a table, and the kitchen shutters at 6pm on Saturdays, which could cramp plans for a late nosh. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that genuine community spirit that makes you want to come back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, especially those Sunday roasts – they're hearty, piping hot, and feel just like a home-cooked meal with generous portions.
  • The staff are an absolute delight; Ellie and the team are super friendly, attentive, and go the extra mile, like helping out if someone's having a tough time.
  • It's got a really welcoming, traditional vibe with a great atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with local ales, cocktails, or watching live sport inside or out in the garden.
  • Plenty of perks for everyone – it's dog-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and has a nice outdoor area for when the weather's playing ball.
  • They're ace for events too, with a private space that's ideal for groups or meetings, and loads of entertainment like pub games and live music.
Cons
  • The kitchen wraps up a bit early on Saturdays and Sundays, so if you're after a late meal, you might need to plan ahead.
  • It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends or for events like Father's Day, which might mean a short wait for your table or food.

Came for Father's Day as a party of 4. Lovely welcome from Elli and her team and a nice, busy atmosphere. We all had roasts - 2 beef, 1 turkey and 1 gammon. Didn't have to wait long for the food to come. It was piping hot and delicious! As good as home-cooked and good-sized portions. Only one of us had dessert, as we were all full up, but the father's in our party were offered a complimentary whisky! Such a nice touch. Would recommend and will definitely be back. Thanks Ellie and team 😊

Took my Dad in for fathers day. He had a fall in a boat and couldn't use his right arm. Staff offered to cut up his food and were very attentive! Great service, extra friendly!

Best pub in the south of England. Great night on St. Patrick’s night. Great music, great atmosphere. Really good Sunday roast too. Ellie is a great host. Worth coming from Seattle to visit.

Visited The Queens Head today for Sunday lunch and must say it was well worth it. The staff were remarkable and very welcoming. The roast dinner was just like you’d have at home and piping hot when it was served. Couldn’t fault the service we received and would definitely visit again when in the area. Well done The Queens Head 👍
