About This Pub

You know, when I think about Porters Ale House, it just brings a smile – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local haunt, right in the heart of Warrington. The staff really stand out; they're so welcoming and make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or staying for the entertainment. Speaking of which, they've got loads going on – from live rock bands on Saturdays to quizzes and karaoke mid-week – it's always a good laugh and keeps the energy up. The refurb has done wonders too, making the place nice and clean without losing that authentic, salt-of-the-earth feel that makes it special. On the downside, it's a bit frustrating that there's no website to check details easily, and with just a few reviews floating about, it might not be on everyone's list yet, so you could end up discovering it by chance. All in all, if you're after a genuine night out with great drinks and a welcoming crowd, I'd say give it a go – you won't be disappointed, but maybe plan ahead if you can.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, welcoming, and ready to make your visit memorable, just like Sarah who goes above and beyond.
  • It's got a cracking atmosphere with a real sense of community, full of down-to-earth folks and that authentic pub charm that hasn't been lost after the refurb.
  • The entertainment is top-notch, with great music, live bands on Saturdays, quizzes on Mondays, and karaoke on Thursdays – always something to liven up the night.
  • They've got a solid selection of drinks, and the place is much cleaner now thanks to the recent updates, making it a comfortable spot for a good night out.
Cons
  • There's no website or online details listed, which makes it a bit of a faff to check opening times or what's on before you head over.
  • With only a handful of reviews out there, it might not be as widely known, so you could miss it if you're just passing through Warrington.
  • The operating hours seem a tad confusing from what's available, which might lead to a surprise if you're planning a visit and it doesn't quite line up.

Lovey atmosphere, with salt of the earth and quality people. No hairs and graces in there, what you see is what you get. Sarah is a lovely hostess and is always happy to go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

It's always a good night out. Bar staff are always polite and friendly. It's much cleaner than it used to be too. The much needed refurb hasn't taken away any of its charm.

Great rock pub near the centre of Warrington. Great music, good selection of drinks and amazing bar staff. Regularly hosts Great bands on Saturday nights, and loads of things going on during the week too (quiz on Mondays, karaoke on Thursday, etc). Very welcoming and always a port of call.
