About This Pub
Ah, The Borough Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Warrington, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the staff are top-notch, with the landlord and landlady going out of their way to make you feel welcome, which always makes for a great evening. It's got that casual, chilled-out vibe that's perfect if you're meeting up with friends for a few drinks and a game of pool or darts – I can imagine the laughs that'll bring. Prices are fair too, so you can enjoy a beer or wine without worrying about the tab. On the flip side, it's not the place to go if you're starving, as it's mostly just snacks like crisps on offer, and if you're a real ale fan, you might miss out since it's more about the standard lagers. Still, it's dog-friendly and open late most days, so for a straightforward, welcoming spot to unwind, it's spot on – I'd say give it a try if you're in the area, but keep expectations realistic for a classic pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely, with the landlord and landlady making everyone feel right at home – it's that warm welcome that really sets the tone.
-
It's got a cracking atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates, especially with those bar games like pool and darts to keep things fun.
-
Drinks are fairly priced, so you won't break the bank for a pint or a spirit, making it a solid choice for a casual night out.
-
Dog-friendly vibes mean you can pop in with your four-legged friend, which is always a bonus for us animal lovers.
-
Open seven days a week with late hours, so it's easy to swing by whenever the mood strikes, whether it's for a quick drink or a longer session.
Cons
-
Food options are pretty slim – just crisps and nuts on offer, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere first.
-
No real ale to speak of, just the usual lagers and John Smith's Bitter, which could leave beer aficionados a bit underwhelmed.
-
It's a straightforward, no-frills spot, so if you're in the mood for something a tad more upscale or with live music, this might not hit the mark.

Lovely pub landlord and landlady superb people
We were down a day before creamfields and fancied a little random pub trip so we found this place. Felt like we made a great choice popping in for a couple drinks and a game of pool. Good atmosphere even though it was quite early on a Wednesday afternoon and prices to the drinks are fair
Nice friendly place for a drink. Pool table and darts board in the back room. Cert welcome and chilled atmosphere. Will pop in again when I'm in warrington. Thanks again 😁
No food (apart from crisps and nuts!) but a genuinely lovely old fashioned drinking pub with a great atmosphere and excellent staff. What more can you want when you just want to go for a pint?
Nice pleasant pub and dog friendly. No Real Ale, but serve John Smiths Bitter and all the usual lagers etc.
