About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Plainsman, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Nottingham. From the reviews I've seen, the staff really shine – they're attentive and make you feel right at home, whether it's sorting a birthday surprise or pampering your pup like it's part of the family. The food's another highlight; it's tasty, varied, and offers good bang for your buck, especially if you're popping in for a meal with the little ones. And if you're a sports fan, it's fantastic for catching the big games with that electric atmosphere. On the flip side, it does get heaving during popular events, so you might end up queuing or missing out on a table if you don't plan ahead. Plus, with moderate prices, it could add up for a longer session, and the kitchen closes a bit early, which might cramp your style for a proper evening out. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint and a chat, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond, like making birthdays feel extra special or fussing over your dog
-
The food is spot on – think delicious options like Chicken and Ham pie, with great value for families and kids' meals that go down a treat
-
It's super dog-friendly, making it a welcoming spot if you're out with your four-legged mate
-
Brilliant for watching live sports, with a lively atmosphere and events like the Women's Euros that get everyone buzzing
-
They've got handy discounts through their app and a range of top-notch facilities, like a beer garden and free WiFi, for a relaxed vibe
Cons
-
It can get pretty crowded during big events, which might make it tricky to grab a seat without booking ahead
-
Prices are on the moderate side, so it might not be the cheapest option if you're watching your wallet on a night out
-
Serving hours tend to finish up fairly early, around 9pm most evenings, so it's not ideal for those late-night cravings

We came out for a friends birthday to have a few drinks and Sarah went above and beyond to ensure our friend felt celebrated for the efforts Sarah went for wishing our friend a happy birthday
If could give more than 5 stars I honestly would !! Took our puppy Whiskey with us for an evening out, totally blown away by Tori, what a true credit to the pub, nothing was too much trouble, not only were we made welcome but she spoilt whiskey rotten, we were worried how he would be as it can be overwhelming for them but she went above and beyond, tennis ball, pupchino, even cut his sausage up for his tea. We will definatley be back, thanks Tori 👍🐾
Lovely staff, they always have our drinks ready when we walk to the bar! Great discounts on sports app too! 100% recommend the plainsman for sporting events
Food was absolutely amazing when we visited on Friday. The Chicken and Ham pie was delicious and my son devoured all of his kids meal and dessert. It was great value for money as well!
