About This Pub

You know, when I think about O'Neill's in Nottingham, it just brings a smile to my face – it's one of those places that captures that authentic Irish pub spirit right in the heart of the city. The staff are proper gems, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the welcoming feel. The food's a standout too; I had a go at their mixed grill and it was spot on, with tender meats and sides like Mac and cheese that leave you wanting more. Plus, if you're into sports or live music, it's brilliant for soaking up the atmosphere during a big match or just enjoying the tunes that keep things buzzing. On the other hand, it can get a bit lively and packed on weekends, so if you're hoping for a peaceful pint, you might find it a touch too hectic. And with the hours varying a bit, it's wise to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, but like any spot, it's not without its quirks – still, I'd say it's worth a visit for the good times it delivers.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think tender mixed grills, delicious Mac and cheese, and other hearty options that hit the spot every time.
  • It's a fantastic spot for catching live sports, with great music and a lively atmosphere that keeps the energy high for a proper good time.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks with some tempting offers, perfect for enjoying with mates over a chat.
  • The Irish charm really shines through, creating unforgettable moments whether you're there for a meal, a match, or just a casual pint.
Cons
  • The opening hours can seem a bit inconsistent, with varying times listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment.
  • It might get quite busy and energetic on popular nights, which could feel a tad overwhelming if you're after a quiet evening.
  • As a moderate-priced spot, it might stretch the budget a little for everyday visits, especially if you're planning a big feed or a few rounds.
  • While the vibes are generally top-notch, the overall rating suggests that not every visit is perfect, perhaps due to occasional crowds or service hitches.

We both had the mixed grill I had the normal size with added Mac and cheese my husband had the large mixed grill. Not a meal I usually have as I'm funny about meat being tough, I'm so glad I did all the meat was really nice and tender, the Mac and cheese was lovely (one of my favourites) onion rings were really nice as well. Will definitely eat here again. Really reasonable price as well.

This pub has a wonderful customer service management and head chef and kitchen colleagues. The managers manage their colleagues in the most respectful way they can this also comes across to their customers. Customer service at the bar and table is of very high standards as is the finest cooked food not only in preparation but also in the way they cook the food. I fully recommend the management customer service experience and head chef and their colleagues in the kitchen.
