About This Pub

Ah, the Old Plough in Kingswood, Bristol – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, it's got this warm, inviting atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and the drinks are always spot on and won't set you back too much. It's especially great if you're into sports; they show all the major matches, and the crowd gets properly into it, which makes for a cracking time with mates. Plus, the live music and karaoke nights sound like a right laugh, adding a bit of excitement to the usual routine. On the flip side, though, it seems like the food choices are a bit hit or miss – no full fry-ups anymore, just a scaled-down version, which might leave you wanting more if you're popping in for a bite. And, honestly, getting the lowdown on what's on event-wise can be a smidge confusing, so you'd probably want to check their website or give them a ring ahead of time. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, with plenty of positives that outweigh the niggles, but it's worth going in with realistic expectations to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced and spot on – a great spot for a cheeky pint without breaking the bank.
  • It's brilliant for watching sports; they've got Sky Sports and TNT coverage, and the atmosphere gets buzzing during the big games.
  • They host live music and karaoke nights, which add a fun, lively vibe and make for some memorable evenings.
  • The pub is kept nice and clean, with a relaxed, chilled-out setting that's perfect for casual catch-ups.
Cons
  • Some food options seem a bit limited; for instance, the full fry-up isn't available anymore, just a smaller version, which might disappoint if you're after a hearty meal.
  • Finding out about events like live music can be a tad tricky, so you might need to dig around a bit to stay in the loop.

The pub is much better than The Kingswood Colliers, or as some locals like to call it "the spoons". However, due to some previous complaints, the fry up was no longer being made. But they did have a smaller version which is shown in the photo.
