About This Pub

Ah, the New Inn – what a lovely little find in the heart of Peggs Green! I've got to say, chatting about it feels like recommending a mate's favourite spot; it's that kind of place where you walk in and instantly feel welcome. The family who run it have created this warm, quirky environment with all sorts of trinkets and decorations that give it real character, and the beers are spot on – think excellent real ales and a solid selection of other drinks that keep things interesting. It's brilliant for a casual catch-up, especially with the option to order in some tasty takeaways and let them handle the plates. On the flip side, though, the hours can be a bit restrictive, so you wouldn't want to turn up late expecting a full session, and being out in the village means it's not the most central spot if you're travelling from further afield. Still, for what it offers, it's a proper traditional pub done right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after that genuine, unpretentious pub experience without spending a fortune.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely fabulous – it's a warm, family-run spot with quirky decorations and a real traditional pub feel that makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of real ales, like Pedigree always on tap, plus guest ales that change up regularly, and even traditional flat Bass straight from the barrel.
  • The drinks go beyond just beer; there's a good variety including non-alcoholic options, and folks have raved about the Guinness being better than elsewhere.
  • It's got that welcoming vibe with friendly service – perfect for a relaxed evening, and they even let you order takeaways like Indian or Chinese and provide plates and cutlery.
  • Being inexpensive means you can enjoy a pint or a bite without breaking the bank, making it a great spot for a casual get-together.
Cons
  • The operating hours can be a bit tricky, with it typically closing around 21:00 and some confusion in the schedule, so you might need to plan ahead if you're hoping for a late one.
  • It's tucked away in a village setting, which is charming but could make it less convenient if you're not local – might not be the easiest spot to pop into spontaneously.
  • While they offer food through vendors or takeaways, it doesn't sound like there's a full in-house kitchen, so if you're after a proper sit-down meal, you might find options a tad limited.

Came for a fab Northern Soul afternoon of music in their lovely garden and fell in love with this quirky place. Amazing decorations throughout and a real family atmosphere. The Guinness was much better than I’ve had elsewhere in England. Keep up the fine work!

Very friendly family run pub. Warm welcome and Great bitter! Lovely and traditional with lots of trinkets around the walls and a Christmas gift room was an excellent idea. Although didn't have any food love the idea of being able to order a takeaway to be delivered and eaten with plates etc provided on Saturdays. Also pull up Vans on week days, great! Will be there again on my next visit to the area.

What to expect from a trip to New Inn: A small, quaint pub in a village setting with a warm heart. Owned by friendly people, they serve hearty ales and have a respectable selection of wines and spirits. The interior is fantastically decorated with trinkets, vintage art, etc. Overall feeling of welcome, and that even newcomers are treated like one of the locals.
