About This Pub

You know, when you step into the Nags Head in Wrexham, it's like walking into a proper cosy spot that's got that classic pub charm down pat – think beautiful old features and a beer garden that's just perfect for a sunny afternoon with mates. The food really stands out; I've heard from folks who've raved about the excellent burgers and homey meals that make you feel like you're tucking into dinner with family, and it's all served up with a good variety to suit different tastes. The drinks selection is spot on too, whether you're after a pint of cask ale or something a bit more celebratory. It's great for all sorts of get-togethers, with events and a welcoming vibe that makes it easy to while away the hours. On the downside, though, a couple of people mentioned the bar staff not always being full of beans, which can make the experience feel a bit flat if you're hoping for that extra spark of enthusiasm. And let's be honest, the prices might sting a little if you're on a budget, especially when compared to some other pubs around. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal or night out, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind so you go in with realistic expectations – I'd say it's one to try if you're in the area, as the highs definitely outweigh the lows for most.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is absolutely delicious, with proper pub grub like spicy burgers that hit the spot and leave you wanting more.
  • It's got a lovely traditional pub atmosphere, complete with gorgeous period features and a brilliant beer garden for soaking up the sun.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks for every occasion, from cask ales to something fizzy, and it's even dog-friendly for those who bring their furry mates.
  • The place hosts fun events and has a family-friendly vibe, perfect for lunches, band nights, or just catching up with friends.
Cons
  • Some of the bar staff can come across as a bit unenthusiastic at times, which might take the edge off an otherwise great visit.
  • Prices are on the moderate side, so it could feel a tad pricey if you're just popping in for a quick bite compared to other local spots.
  • Based on a few experiences, the service isn't always consistently upbeat, which might leave you wishing for a bit more energy behind the bar.

Excellent Food , Great staff a very homey feeling . The food also feels like you are eating at home with your loved ones . We went there twice for our two nights visit to Wrexham .

I was starving and wandering around the city centre and how lucky I was I opened this door. Excellent spicy burger and even the diet Pepsi from the tap was good (that seldom happens). Attentive service.

Called in here for some lunch as we recommend it. Just catching up on some reviews. Nice lovely pub still with a traditional pub feeling nestled away in Wrexham centre. Can't fault the service or the food. Great place grab a bite to eat and we'll does what it's ment to. Nice atmosphere very friendly staff couldn't find fault at all. Only thing I would say is carpark quite small and tight. However worth parking up and a few min walk. When working or visiting Wrexham again I'd definitely call back in.

Stopped in at Nags Head on a cold winters night for a meal and a drink. It was a warm and welcoming looking pub. Bar staff didn’t come across as very enthusiastic or interested in what they were doing. Food was pretty good, but a bit on the higher side compared to Australian pub prices. Stopped offering food on a Wednesday night at 7:20pm!

Great Pub!! 🍺 The atmosphere (10 days before Christmas) was awesome. The bar people were extremely friendly and helpful. But the food was just delicious - server replaced my wrong brought meal with a brand new one. Highly recommendation!
