About This Pub
Ah, the Wynnstay Arms – it's one of those places that feels like a proper British hotel with a cosy pub attached, right in the heart of Wrexham. I have to say, what stands out most is how handy the location is; it's just a quick walk from the train station, so you can pop in easily after travelling or head out to explore without any fuss. The staff are an absolute treat – always cheerful and on hand to help, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting, like chatting with mates at the bar. The rooms themselves are clean and the beds are comfy enough for a restful night, and with free parking, it's a straightforward choice if you're driving over. On the food front, they've got those classic pub meals you know and love, but it's not all roses; a few folks have mentioned disappointing dishes, like a steak that came out all wrong or a salad that wasn't fresh, so you might want to keep expectations in check or stick to the safer options. Overall, it's a solid pick for a budget-friendly stay or a pint in a historic setting, but those dated rooms and little niggles like scarce plug sockets mean it's not quite the top-tier experience. Still, for what you pay, it's worth a go if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a decent time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The location is absolutely spot on, just a short stroll from Wrexham Central Train Station, making it dead easy to get to and explore the area.
-
The staff are genuinely helpful and friendly, always ready with a smile and quick to sort out any needs, which really makes you feel welcome.
-
Rooms are clean and comfortable, with comfy beds that give you a proper good night's sleep – perfect after a day out.
-
It's great value for money, especially with the food and drinks on offer in the traditional pub setting, steeped in history like that old Grade 2 listed building.
-
Free parking is a real bonus if you're driving, adding to the convenience without any extra hassle.
Cons
-
Some rooms feel a bit dated and tired, like they could do with a freshen-up to keep up with modern expectations.
-
Food can be hit or miss; for instance, one meal had an overcooked steak and a salad that wasn't up to scratch, which might put you off ordering again.
-
There are limited plug sockets in the rooms, which is a bit of a nuisance if you've got devices to charge.
-
The shower takes ages to get going, which isn't ideal when you're looking to freshen up after a long day.
-
Wrexham itself might not wow you, as it's been described as disappointing by a few, so the hotel's appeal could depend on what else you're up to nearby.

First time here and will definitely be going back. The location is excellent and the cost for the hotel and food is good. The staff are very helpful
For the price we paid as a couple, will not complain at all. The room was dated but very clean and comfortable (the pillows were so soft). We had a few drinks in the afternoon and then went for a walk, Wrexham on a whole was disappointing so back to the hotel for drinks and food and it was to our satisfaction. Well worth another visit I say...... thanks Craig and the team.
We went for dinner as a family of five. I ordered steak (medium rare) with salad. Steak came well done and salad was turning brown and quite inedible. Husband and kids had burgers which were ok. It didnt seem like anything was homemade, just heated up/fried to order. I wouldn't return
The location is great and you can easily get to different parts of the town easily by walking. The receptionist was excellent and only took few seconds for him to hand me my room keys because I booked online.I loved the bedroom and the facilities but the shower took some time to run. The bedroom was very big with two beds, TV and other facilities to make U feel at home.
The WiFi I connected to was an open WiFi and wasn't fast for me so I had to disconnect and use my mobile data which was not a problem because I had enough.
Staff were really helpful and friendly. Hotel room was clean but it’s very tired, only one plug socket (for the kettle) so none but the bed. Comfy bed, nice bedding and towels.
