About This Pub

Ah, The Drunk Monk – it's one of those spots you stumble upon and end up chatting about for ages. Tucked away in an old arcade, it's got this charming rustic feel that just draws you in, and the selection of craft ales and ciders is spot on, with folks raving about how welcoming it is and the staff's genuine knowledge making every visit feel special. If you're a beer nut, you'll love ticking off new breweries and enjoying the lively atmosphere, as a few mates have shared. On the flip side, not every pint's a winner – some can be a bit divisive, tasting more experimental than expected, and at £5 a go, it might feel a tad steep if you're not totally smitten. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, but I'd say go with an open mind and perhaps pair it with a budget in check to get the best out of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders on tap, perfect for exploring new brews
  • Welcoming and rustic atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the get-go
  • Friendly and knowledgeable staff who really know their stuff about the drinks on offer
  • A hidden gem in Wrexham for beer enthusiasts, with plenty of options to try something different
Cons
  • Some of the ales can be an acquired taste, like one that was compared to thick orange juice – not everyone's cup of tea
  • Pints are on the pricey side at £5 each, which might add up if you're in for a session
  • It has a bit of a trendy vibe aimed at craft beer lovers, so it might not appeal if you're after something more traditional

Just stumbled over this place by accident while visiting Wrexham....Lucky us! :-)Fantastic location with a great choice of beer and cider to take home or drink there and also lots of stuff on tap and very nice staff. Felt very welcome immediately! If you are a beer lover- go there!

Not the best ale I have had, at £5 a go, we both tried different Ales and found nothing we liked. One of them, Polly's, was like driving thick orange juice worst pint in a long time. Would say most of the ales are "trendy" aimed at men with groomed beards and silly top knots. Must be getting old. We moved on to the Royal Oak and had some great real ales there.

Cracking wee craft bar tucked down an old arcade. Great service with full knowledge of the beers on sale. 3 new breweries ticked off for me
