About This Pub

Ah, Moss & Co Broadlands – what a gem of a spot down in Lowestoft, isn't it? I've got to say, it's one of those places that really captures the essence of a good British bar, with its prime position overlooking the broads, where you can unwind with a coffee in the morning or a cheeky pint as the day winds down. The team there seems genuinely welcoming, always ready to sort out events like birthdays or christenings in their function room, and from what folks have shared, the food can be a real highlight – think hearty buffets and well-presented dishes that leave you satisfied. It's especially lovely for a post-walk stop-off, adding to that feel-good vibe. But, let's be straight, it's not all perfect; there have been a few moans about the toilets being less than pristine, which can put a damper on things, and the odd meal that's fallen short of expectations, like a salad that was a bit lacklustre. Overall, though, if you're after a solid spot for a casual get-together with mates, it's worth a visit – just keep those little hiccups in mind for a smoother experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is absolutely stunning, right by the broads, making it a brilliant spot for soaking up the scenery and watching the sun go down while you sip a drink.
  • It's fantastic for events like parties or birthdays, with a function room that can handle up to 60 folks, and the team really pulls out all the stops to make everything run smoothly.
  • The food gets plenty of praise – think generous buffets, tasty options like chicken in a basket or pasta, and even breakfast on weekends, all served with a smile from the friendly staff.
  • Outside seating is a nice touch, perfect for a relaxed afternoon, and it's ideally placed near lovely walks, so you can pop in for a coffee before or a beer after.
Cons
  • There have been some gripes about the facilities, like the men's toilets being in a bit of a state – blocked and smelly, which isn't ideal, especially if you're with the family.
  • Food quality can be hit or miss; one visit might be spot on, but another could leave you disappointed, such as a salad that was more lettuce than anything else.
  • As an average-sized venue, it might feel a tad cramped for bigger gatherings, even though it copes well up to about 80 people.

Attended a party here, close to train station, average sized venue, comfortably accommodate around 50-80guests. Small bar, outside seating, very good party food.

Good venue. Had a party there. They done catering which was okay. Nice sausage rolls. Only one complaint mens toilets were disgusting. Urinals were blocked! Wee and water overflowing onto floor!! Pretty rank!! And they smelled bad!! Not nice for children to go in!!!

We held my daughters 40th birthday party here. All aspects of the day from start to finish were excellently managed by Abbey and her team. The food supplied for the buffet was fantastic and very very generous. We were well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was a lovely atmosphere that was warm and welcoming. It made us feel relaxed and at home. I would recommend the team and venue to anyone. My daughter was over the moon with her birthday party. We, as a whole family, would like to say thank you to Moss and Co, and to the team at Broadlands.

Recently had dinner here, food quality was excellent, and the service fab. Very polite expedient and professional staff. Great venue right by the broads. We had chicken in a basket and chicken pasta, both well presented and very tasty.

I have visited Broadlands every week and had a large chicken ceasar salad very regularly this visit the salad was appalling never had a ceasar salad like it, a large bowl of lettuce with 1 boiled egg, no croutons, small amount of chicken and hardly any dressing on, I did complain to the young lady on duty and she went to see the chef his response was another 2 eggs on a side plate and he said he left the croutons off for a glutton free person, my response to the waitress was if I had a allergy I would have said then her response was croutons are not on the menu, I told her not to worry it's not her fault but I will not order it again, what a disappointment for my husbands first ceasar salad and to pay all that money for a full bowl of lettuce is overpriced, inconsistency usually looses customer's, my first ceasar salad was the best I'd ever eaten and told the manageress this, 2 boiled eggs, chicken and croutons mixed in with lots of sauce, sliced chicken placed on the top so much so I couldn't eat it all and took the rest home, what a shame if you read on you will see my very first review of Broadlands :- First visit for food, I had the chicken strips in bucket with chips and slaw, the skinny fries were piping hot and the chicken was beautiful but I did ask for a plate, my husband had the belly pork with mash and leeks he thought his was just middle of the road for taste, he also said it could have done with a little apple sauce he wouldn't have it again, the service was fast and very friendly, not much atmosphere, wonderful views over the marina, lots of bench seating outside for a sunny day, 2nd visit today and just as good as the 1st
