About This Pub

Ah, the Merry Boys Inn – it's one of those local gems in Wolverhampton that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. From what I've gathered, the staff are absolute stars, always patient and chatty, which really makes the place feel warm and inviting, like you're catching up with old mates. The food's a winner too; think hearty pub classics that are tasty and won't empty your wallet, with options that cater to families and even your furry friends. That beer garden is a proper treat on a nice day, giving you a chance to soak up the outdoors while tucking into some grub. And if you're into sports, they've got the games on without it being too in-your-face. On the flip side, it can be a bit on the quiet side, especially if you're after that electric atmosphere some pubs have, and the menu doesn't venture far from the usual, so it might not wow you with anything groundbreaking. Still, with its daily deals and events, it's a solid choice for a fuss-free night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that reliable, feel-good charm that keeps folks coming back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from real ales and craft beers to wines and ciders, perfect for a casual catch-up.
  • The food is spot on – generous portions of classic pub grub at really reasonable prices, ideal for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
  • It's super family-friendly with a small play area for the little ones, and even dog-friendly in the bar area, so you can bring the whole gang.
  • Love the beer garden! It's a great spot to relax outdoors with mates, especially on a sunny day, enjoying snacks and drinks in the fresh air.
  • There are plenty of TVs showing live sports, but it's not overwhelming, so you can enjoy the game without it dominating the vibe.
  • They host events and have daily deals, like Sunday lunches, which add a fun element and make it easy to pop in for something special.
Cons
  • It seems a bit quieter compared to some nearby spots, which might not suit those after a lively, buzzing night out.
  • The menu sticks to typical pub fare, so if you're craving something more adventurous or unique, it might feel a tad ordinary.
  • With standard hours closing at 11 PM, it could wrap up earlier than you'd like for a late-night gathering.
  • There haven't been many recent reviews, which makes me wonder if it's not quite as active these days, though the overall ratings are still solid.

A quieter and more welcoming pub than its neighbour across the road. Child friendly, with a small play area for younger children. There are a number of TVs located around the open plan pub, showing mostly sports channels. A typical pub grub menu is available with meals a fair size for a fair price. Service wasn't the quickest, but the food was well presented. Shame they no longer sell cask ale.
