About This Pub
Ah, The Brickmakers Arms – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that really hits the spot for a laid-back evening out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you're among mates, with quick service and staff who can be absolute gems. The beer garden is a proper treat, especially if you're popping in with the dog or just wanting to soak up some fresh air, and it's spot on for catching the big match on the telly. Plus, those cheap cobs are a winner for a simple, no-fuss snack. On the flip side, though, the real ale options are a tad sparse, so if you're after something more adventurous on tap, you might end up sticking to the basics like John Smiths. And let's be honest, there have been a few off moments where it felt a bit frosty from the staff, or that no-kids-after-nine rule could be a hassle if you're with family. Overall, it's a solid 4.2-rated spot that's worth a visit if you're in Walsall Wood, but go in with realistic expectations for a traditional pub experience – it's got heart, but it's not without its rough edges.

It's a great spot for watching sports, with a relaxed vibe that keeps things lively without being overwhelming.
-
They're dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with your furry friend.

The back beer garden is a nice size with plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for a sunny day.
-
Cobs are really cheap, so you can grab a quick bite without breaking the bank.
-
Service is quick and the staff can be charming, adding to that friendly pub feel.
Cons
-
The selection of real ales is a bit limited, so if you're a craft beer enthusiast, you might be disappointed.
-
It can feel unwelcoming at times, like if the staff aren't as chatty as you'd hope, which puts a damper on things.
-
There's a rule about no kids after 9 o'clock, which might not suit families or those with little ones in tow.

Had a couple of visits here. Quite limited with real ales, but the John Smiths was good.
Dog friendly pub with a good sized back beer garden.
Cobs are very cheap!
Good for watching sports, too
Lovely atmosphere. And a nice pint
We did not eat here tho the service for our drinks was quick, and the guy behind the bar was lovely.
Felt welcome, and everyone there was lovely, too.
Will be going again at some stage, I'm sure, and this time, I'll win a game of pool. Haha
Popped in had a shandy and watched match to kill time whilst DD was at swimming lesson, ample parking, plenty of outdoor seating to rear and a nice covered area, nice pub general people were nice, I would pop in a agin.
Technically, this place is our local, but we’d not visited before, we were passing so my wife, young son and I popped in for a drink. We found The Brickmakers to be unfriendly and unwelcoming; not so much as an ‘Hello’ from the staff.
After a while someone came over saying, “No kids after 9 o’clock”, what would have cost to have said, “Hi guys, welcome, nice to see you. I’m afraid we don’t allow children after 9, is that OK?” Just a little basic customer service?
Oh, and the beers aren’t great, all the standard stuff you can find everywhere, nothing special and no real ales. The locks on the cubicles in the gent’s toilets were both broken, the hand dryer didn’t work and there were no paper towels.
This all seems like the fundamental basics of running a pub. If I were you, I’d leave it to the regulars who did seem to enjoy the place.
