About This Pub

Ah, Kona Kai – what a gem it is for those evenings when you fancy a bit of tropical flair right in the heart of London. I've got to say, the cocktails are where it really shines; they're crafted with such care, using premium spirits and fresh infusions that make every sip feel like a mini-holiday, and they're reasonably priced too, so you can indulge without the guilt. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and tailoring drinks to your preferences, which adds that warm, personal vibe you don't always get elsewhere. It's brilliant for social dos, like sorting out a last-minute birthday party or grabbing a pre-game drink, with upbeat music and DJs kicking in on Fridays and Saturdays to keep the energy buzzing. The food's no afterthought either – those creamy, crispy pizzas are a proper treat, made with fresh toppings and handmade dough that hits the spot after a few drinks. But, on the flip side, there was that one off-putting review about management being a bit heavy-handed with entry, which could spoil the fun if you're caught up in it, and the opening hours are a tad erratic, so you might find yourself planning around that. Overall, though, with a solid 4.3 rating from the crowd, it's got far more going for it than not – I'd pop in for a go if you're after a relaxed yet lively spot, just keep an eye on the details for the best experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cocktails are an absolute treat – they're made with premium spirits, homemade infusions, and tropical ingredients that really whisk you away to the South Pacific, perfect for a bit of escapism on a rainy London evening.
  • The staff are top-notch and ever so welcoming; from the barman crafting drinks to your liking to the doorman making you feel right at home, it's all about that personal touch that makes a night out memorable.
  • It's a brilliant spot for gatherings, whether it's a birthday bash or a pre-match pint near Stamford Bridge – they've got the vibe sorted with lively music, DJs on weekends, and even awards for the best night out.
  • The food hits the mark too, with creamy, crispy pizzas made from fresh, quality ingredients that are quick and authentic, ideal for soaking up those fabulous drinks.
  • Prices are spot on for what you get, making it a go-to for a fun, affordable evening without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There was that unfortunate incident where management turned someone away, which left a sour note and could put a damper on things if you're not expecting it.
  • The operating hours seem a bit unpredictable, with the place only open a few days a week and varying closing times, so it's worth double-checking to avoid a wasted trip.
  • While most experiences are positive, one review hinted at potential rudeness from staff, though it sounds like it might be an outlier, it's something to keep in mind for a smooth visit.

I would like to send a huge thank you to Kona Kai for Saturday just gone for saving a birthday party for my Son’s 18th birthday. I had another venue booked and they cancelled 2 hours before the party was due to start. We called this venue and they were happy to take the party. They provided food for 30 people last minute. They played music to my son’s taste and saved the day. I can not thank the staff enough for their accommodating and professionalism. I recommend this venue for a great night. Please contact them with any requests and they will do their best to help. Huge thank you again Kona Kai

Kona Kai Cocktails Bar, located just outside Stamford Bridge, is the perfect pre-game spot for any Chelsea match! Despite the crowd, the service was surprisingly quick, and the pints were reasonably priced. Whether you’re gearing up for a big game or just looking for a lively atmosphere, Kona Kai checks all the boxes!

Disgusting behaviour by management refusing entry to Basil, the Chelsea legend. Edit: The owners have now replied stating that I Have been rude and abusive to their staff, which I can absolutely, categorically deny and would love to see the evidence of this. I have a huge amount of love and respect for every sentient being and will now be taking legal action for defamation unless their statement is removed within 7 days.

Chicken pizza is so creamy, crispy and delicious. Special shout out to Renato the bar tender, provided exceptional service to me and my friend; he was so hospitable, catered the drinks to our liking and introduced me to different alcohol mixes. This is what you need in a quality bartender, please give him a raise or a bonus!
