About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Head – it's one of those classic spots that just feels like a proper British pub, you know? I love how the staff are always so cheerful and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates right from the off. The atmosphere is spot on too, with cosy nooks for a quiet drink or enough space to gather a group for some lively banter. Drinks are reasonably priced, so you won't break the bank just for a round, and it's brilliant for unwinding after a stroll or even watching the odd game. On the brighter side, they do pop up with food trucks every now and then, serving up tasty bits like pizzas or Greek fare, which keeps things interesting. But honestly, it's a shame they don't have proper food on offer anymore – that could leave you a bit peckish if you're not prepared. And I've heard a few tales of the telly being a bit unreliable during big matches, which might frustrate you if you're there for the sport. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, especially if you're in the area, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to set your expectations right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and always ready with a warm welcome, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed chat or enjoying a pint after a walk, with plenty of seating to settle in.
  • Drinks are well-priced, offering great value without skimping on quality, which is always a win for a casual night out.
  • They occasionally bring in food trucks for things like tapas, pizzas, and Greek dishes, adding a fun twist even though they don't do in-house food.
Cons
  • There's no regular food service, which can be a bit of a letdown if you're hoping for a proper meal alongside your drinks.
  • Some folks have mentioned issues with the entertainment, like the TV getting switched during key moments of a game, which might spoil the fun.

Great village pub, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Occasionally do food trucks and stuff outside as they don’t do food, always great. Recently had tapas, pizzas and Greek food

Always a warm friendly welcome in the King's head after a cold winters walk. Well priced drinks and ample seating to rest and enjoy the atmosphere of the pub

Nice beer and friendly staff, but I understand there has been no food served here for several years (posted in June 2023).

Went to watch Leicester v Saracens. Great game but they turned TV onto soccer talking heads 1 min before end of game. Guess what, Leicester were awarded penalty try in last 30 seconds.

Great people and staff and delicious food. We had the shared camembert platter which was perfect. We stopped to do a bit of writing and enjoyed the atmosphere of the cosy nooks that you can get comfy in. Despite its quiet corners, there is still plenty of space to have lots of people in to watch the footy on the couple of big screens they have.
