About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about the Newbold Comyn Arms – it's one of those pubs that really captures the essence of a proper British getaway, set in what used to be a grand manor house surrounded by lovely gardens. I love how they've got all these fun events lined up, like their summer music festival or those midweek deals that make popping in for a bite feel like a treat without breaking the bank. The staff are absolute gems, always chatting away and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds such a warm touch to the place. It's spot-on for families or if you're bringing the dog along for a wander in the outdoor areas. But, and I say this as a mate who's been around a few pubs, the food can be a mixed bag – some days you're treated to generous portions of flavour-packed dishes that hit the spot, while other times things might not quite come together, like a roast that's a bit overdone or veg that's more crunch than you'd fancy. Still, it's got that cosy countryside charm that makes it worth a visit, especially if you time it right for one of their specials or a quieter afternoon. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal, just keep an eye on what you're ordering to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's set in a stunning historic manor house with a beautiful expansive garden, making it a lovely spot to unwind in the Warwickshire countryside.
-
They've got a fantastic lineup of weekly specials, like Burger Tuesday or Wing Wednesday, which are great value and add a fun twist to your visit.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and quick service to make you feel right at home.
-
It's family-friendly with a play park outside, and they welcome well-behaved dogs in the outdoor areas, which is brilliant for a relaxed day out.
-
The food can be spot-on when it's good, with hearty portions and tasty options like their Sunday lunch or pub classics that leave you satisfied.
Cons
-
Food quality can be inconsistent; some dishes might come out overcooked or underdone, like a Sunday roast that's a bit too charred or veg that's stubbornly hard.
-
The ordering system feels a tad awkward at times, which might leave you scratching your head about how to get your meal just right.
-
Certain drinks, such as a pint of Guinness, don't always hit the mark, which is a shame for those hoping for a perfect pour.
-
It can get quite busy, especially with families, so you might end up in a quieter spot if you're after a more peaceful vibe, but that doesn't always guarantee the same level of service.

We went on Sunday afternoon for a Sunday roast and unfortunately the food was not good. We’ve read such great things but everything was either over done or not cooked enough. The meat, potato’s, and the Yorkshire were basically black. And the veg was so hard you feared when you cut it it was fly across the table. We did have a pudding because of the 2 course deal which were much better than the main. Unfortunately we all agreed we could have made a nicer roast dinner at home. The staff were friendly and helpful so I definitely couldn’t knock them.
A friend and I went there for lunch before walking in the park. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's very popular with families and has a great play park outside. Those of us without kids seemed to be seated in a quieter area of the pub which was appreciated. The food was good with a better selection of salads than I've seen in other places.
A nice country style pub. Fish and chips was ok, great fish, chips ok, mushy peas weren’t good. Food ordering system for where you can eat is a little odd. Guinness pour could have been a little better. A nice pub over all.
Me and my family came here for lunch on Boxing Day, and we had the most pleasant and heartwarming experience! The Staff were so friendly. Kaz and Naomi were very friendly and welcoming. The food was insane! I haven’t had a good meal in a long time and I was very satisfied! The duck was cooked to perfection! Reasonable prices too☺️
Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Service was outstanding, we were served promptly and had frequent check backs.
Food and drinks were delivered to our table quickly! Fastest service I've ever seen!
I had roast pork with the cheesy cauliflower and it was amazing! Full of flavour and big portions. Cheesy cauliflower was out of this world!!! I had dessert too (chocolate brownie).. amazing too!
Overall I had an amazing meal here and will definitely return! All staff were very friendly, nice and attentive. Thank you!
