About This Pub
Ah, the King's Head in Islington – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its vibrant energy and that classic old-theatre charm. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a lively atmosphere that's full of personality, perfect for sinking into a comfy corner with friends over a well-poured pint or a fancy cocktail. The staff are an absolute highlight; they're attentive and friendly, always ready with a spot-on recommendation, like a lovely wine to pair with your lunch, which really makes the visit feel personal and enjoyable. And let's not forget the drinks menu – it's packed with craft beers, global wines, and seasonal treats like those refreshing summer spritzes, making it a go-to for anyone wanting to unwind after a day out. The added bonuses, such as board games and weekend live music, add a fun twist that keeps things entertaining without being overwhelming. On the flip side, though, it does have that cluttered feel with all the decorations everywhere, which might make it a bit cosy for some tastes – almost like it's trying to show off too much at once. Plus, if you're a real ale aficionado, you might find the options a tad slim, and the opening times can be a bit unpredictable, so planning ahead is key. All in all, it's a welcoming spot that's got more hits than misses, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for a proper pub experience in London.

Took my 5 little kiddie winks here for a spot of lunch and absolutely loved it 🙌. Our server Nina recommended a lovely wine, only for me of course 😉🍷. Would absolutely tootly recommended.
Lovely and cozy pub! A lot of board games.
Great pub in an old theatre, they have Deya on tap what’s not to like?
This is our go to pub when in Islington. There is so much charm to the decor, something new always catches your eye. The atmosphere is warm and the staff always go out of their way to be attentive and friendly, especially Layla. The live music is a great touch at the weekends. Would, and always do, recommend the Kings Head to friends and no one has been disappointed!
I do not know what to make of this pub. A 10 minute walk from Angel tube puts it in a good location. They only had one cask ale, a reasonably priced Youngs at £5.60. The pub oozes character whilst also having a somewhat cluttered air to it (could be due to the pictures on the wall). The upstairs theatre has relocated a short distance away but they do have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The dark ceiling and half wood panelled walls make it quite dark but this is offset by a gas fire giving a warm glow. There is limited exterior seating. On the one hand I feel that the pub needs a makeover but on the other hand it would lose its character. The table I sat at was quite sticky but the service was good. The toilet is accessed by a steepish staircase to the basement, it was bright but had a jaded look to it. This pub is full of contradictions, I recommend you visit as it is very different, you may love or hate it.
