About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about Humble Grape in Islington; it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a relaxed evening out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a standout – that new chef has everyone raving about the exquisite plates, especially their Sunday roasts, which are cooked to perfection and come with options for vegetarians and vegans, so no one's left out. The staff really make the experience; they're so attentive and clued up on wines, guiding you through their massive selection of over 400 bottles like they're chatting with old mates. It's got this charming, cosy feel with elegant touches that make it perfect for a catch-up or a date night. On the flip side, though, the prices are a tad on the high side compared to other local haunts, which might make you think twice if you're on a budget. Still, with such high ratings and glowing feedback, it's clear this spot knows how to deliver a memorable time, so I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the mood for something a bit special – just book ahead to avoid any disappointments!

The new chef KG has provided the most exquisite food. We kept ordering more plates. Thank you and a wonderful table service too from the staff which is testament to the manager, Pearl. You have to come here.

I didn’t realize there’s a lovely room behind the sophisticated wine bar at the front. We came for a Sunday roast and I had a nice meal. The price was high though, compared to similar establishments around the area. I came with two vegetarians friends and one vegan. They all ordered the vegan roast. However, even though the dish was marked vegan, the roast arrived with no gravy and no replacement for the Yorkshire pud. Come on guys, you charge £19 for the dish. If I was the person who ordered it, I would complain. I understand the dish looks extra empty because roast veg and cauliflower cheese was shared, but surely you need to do more if your menu labelled the dish as vegan (photo attached). Where is the vegan replacement for the cauliflower cheese?! I am happy with my mixed roast and loved all the sides. But for £26 for the dish, I struggle to see value for money. The madeleines were divine. I’m glad to have ordered the dessert.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Humble Grape. From the moment we walked in, the staff was amazing—attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful in choosing the perfect wine to pair with our Sunday roast. The roast itself was impeccable. Everything was cooked to perfection, with generous portions of both meat and vegetables. And the wine? So deliciously moreish that we just had to get another bottle! The staff were on top of everything, ensuring our glasses were never empty and providing excellent recommendations. Their passion and expertise really elevated the experience. A truly outstanding visit—we’ll definitely be back!

The humble grape is a fantastic establishment. As soon as you walk in, you're made to feel welcome. There is a smell of cheese and wine in the air which is extremely satisfying. The staff are friendly, I don't know anything about wine so I listened and took their advice. The humble grape is a place you can take a friend, or have a date. It's quiet and cosy. You feel like you want to spend money here. If you're in the Angel area, you simply have to come to this place, you will not regret it.
