About This Pub

Ah, Joule MCR – what a gem it is for anyone who's mad about craft beers! From the moment you step in, you're greeted with this fantastic array of brews that's always changing, pulling in the best from local spots and further afield, including some hard-to-find American ones and even meads that feel like a proper adventure. The staff are absolute legends, always up for a chat and dishing out spot-on recommendations that make you feel right at home. It's got that cosy, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed evening or before heading to a gig nearby, and they throw in some brilliant events to keep things exciting. On the flip side, though, it's a shame it's shut on Mondays and doesn't kick off until the afternoon, so you'll have to plan around that if you're not a late starter. And while the drinks are the star here, there aren't many food options, which might leave you wanting a bite to go with your pint. All in all, it's a top-notch spot that craft beer lovers will adore, but it's worth noting those little niggles to set your expectations straight – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – they've got a rotating lineup of top-notch craft beers from the Northwest, UK, and even American breweries, including everything from lagers to imperial stouts and smoothie sours.
  • The owners and staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable; it's like chatting with mates who really know their stuff, making every visit feel personal and fun.
  • It's got a lovely atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with a drink before a gig or catching up with friends, and they host cool events like meet-the-brewer nights.
  • Prices are really reasonable for the quality, and they've got options for everyone, including gluten-free beers, meads, wines, and spirits – even some rare gems from around the globe.
Cons
  • It's closed on Mondays, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're looking for a mid-week pint.
  • Opening times start in the afternoon, so it's not the best spot if you're after an early morning or lunchtime stop.
  • The focus is mainly on drinks, so if you're hoping for a full meal or hearty food options, you might need to head elsewhere.

A true gem and most certainly the best craft beer bar in town. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and forthcoming. Dedicatedly curated spaces featuring taps of top-notch, highly sought-after stout and smoothies, along with a sensational selection of mead. I’d 100% recommend it and will visit again.

Jesus Christ! The beers here are phenomenal! Just had a 10% IMPY stout that was basically a chocolate mousse. Fab space, it’s actually the most gorgeous beer place I’ve ever been to!

A really nice little bar with a great range of drinks to choose from. The prices are really reasonable and this was a nice place to have a drink before a gig at the Aviva studios.

Incredible craft beer bar in Salford. Owners are lovely. The beers they have on are always fresh and often you can't find them anywhere else (often from America). They constantly change. It is a must for craft beer lovers.
