About This Pub
Ah, the Ladybird Bar – it's one of those places that always pops up when you're chatting about great nights out in London. I've heard from mates that the cocktails are a real highlight, with inventive mixes and those unbeatable happy hours stretching on forever, making it a brilliant spot to kick off an evening without breaking the bank. The staff are just lovely, handling big groups with ease and a cheerful attitude that makes you feel like part of the crowd. Plus, with DJs playing a mix of tunes and various rooms to choose from, it's got that eclectic energy that's perfect for a fun gathering. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – a few have mentioned some drinks tasting a bit dodgy, which could put a downer on things, and the sound system isn't always up to scratch, especially if you're keen on a proper boogie. There are also those steps around the place that might not suit everyone, and it seems the vibe has toned down a tad from its heyday. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual night if you're after good value and a welcoming atmosphere, but maybe keep expectations in check for the finer details.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The cocktails are fantastic, with a great selection of molecular and classic drinks that really hit the spot, especially during their legendary happy hours.
-
The bar staff are absolute gems, super efficient and friendly, making even large groups feel right at home with quick service and a welcoming smile.
-
It's got a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere that's perfect for a good time, with DJs spinning everything from funk to disco, and plenty of space in various rooms for different vibes.
-
They offer brilliant deals like 50% off your bill and student discounts, which make it a wallet-friendly spot for a night out in London.
-
The venue's location in the heart of Islington is spot on, just a short walk from Angel tube, and it's open late for those extended evenings.
Cons
-
Some drinks can be a bit off, like tasting like expired cough medicine according to a few folks, which is a real shame when you're expecting something special.
-
The sound system tends to distort, which might put a damper on the music if you're there to dance or enjoy the DJ sets.
-
There are steps throughout the venue, so it might not be the easiest place for anyone with mobility concerns.
-
The ambience has lost a bit of its sparkle over the years, feeling less lively than it used to, which could disappoint if you're after that classic speakeasy feel.

The bar staff were exceptional! Our hen do (a BIG group of us) arrived unexpectedly duing the bar's happy hour. There was one super bartender who served us all a wide rage of cocktails - without delay and they were all delicious. I think their name was Venezuela. I can't remember exactly due to the amount of delicious cocktails I had enjoyed. Bravo!
Fantastic cocktails chilled atmosphere and great service from the yg behind the bar!! made my long island ice tea to perfection!!! Great prices for London the venue is multicultural and very welcoming the music in RnB based can highly recommend!!! Thank you Ladybird and bless to the bar man cheers Geoff
Very cool little place. Sound system distorts a bit so if you're a DJ be aware of this. But for a boogie and a jam and a bit of a good time downstairs it is perfect. So easy to get to. And yeah...
If you want cocktails that taste like an absolute abomination, try out this cocktail bar. The free shots tasted like expired cough medicine and the featured cocktails was a taste to die for .. literally to die for.. positive was that the seats were comfortable
Great deals when you catch the happy hour, still reasonably priced when you don't.
Great cocktails, the space isn't huge but it's comfortable and has plenty of seating. Steps up to the bar and down to the toilets so may not suit the less mobile.
It had less of the ambience than it had a few years ago when I used to go fairly regularly. The bar staff weren't as chatty, just mixed your drinks and let you get on with drinking them, so maybe not a bar I would go to on my own
