About This Pub
You know, I had a wander into the Hole in the Wall the other day, and it's one of those places that just hits the mark for a relaxed pub experience right in the middle of Bristol. The food's a real highlight – from the Sunday roasts that had one visitor beaming to the prawn starters and pork mains that another couldn't stop praising, it's all about hearty, well-spiced dishes that leave you satisfied. The staff are an absolute treat too; they're chatty, professional, and quick to sort out any dietary needs, which makes the whole visit feel personal and enjoyable. Plus, with that outdoor area, it's perfect for a sunny afternoon pint or al fresco dining. On the flip side, not everything's flawless – I heard a mention of the rice noodles being a bit underwhelming, lacking that extra punch of flavour and texture, so it might not suit everyone if you're after something more adventurous. And, being a popular spot, it can fill up quickly, so planning ahead is probably a good idea. All in all, it's a solid choice for a meal with mates or family, and I'd say it's worth checking out for that genuine country pub feel in the city.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think tasty pub classics, fresh starters, and even options for little ones, all cooked to perfection based on what folks are raving about.
-
Service is warm and welcoming; the staff go the extra mile with recommendations and dietary help, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere with a chic bar, cosy dining area, and that outdoor garden spot that's ideal for soaking up the sun on a nice day.
-
Priced just right for the quality, so you won't break the bank for a proper meal out in the heart of Bristol.
Cons
-
A few dishes might not quite live up to the hype, like the rice noodles that one person found a bit bland and lacking in texture.
-
It could get a tad busy, especially in the evenings, so you might have to wait for a table if you pop in without booking.

Thank you Jasmine, for your food and drinks suggestions, and for your remarkable service! Mind you, the food was delicious, spiced and cooked Perfectly! This is the place to go to for dining in Bristol Uk. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves…
A perfect lunch on a great spot. Joe was of big help, assisting with our dietary requirements made our lunch even more special with his service. Very welcoming service 🤗 definitely coming back ❤️😋
Such a lovely pub! I walked past and thought no I’m going to go in. The food was great and priced reasonably for the quality and taste. I had the prawn starter and the pork and scallop main.
Will most definitely be returning in the near future
I went to the Hole in the Wall with my mum because I wanted her to try the Sunday Roast. The food was amazing. The place is also very nice and we felt very comfortable thanks to Mario who works there. He was very professional and friendly. He was telling us stories about the place and came to check if everything was ok a few times. We felt very comfortable and we were very happy with the food and service 😊
The steak and duck breast were cooked and seasoned to perfection as well as potato chips and green vegetables. The only thing I did not like was rice noodles that were lacking texture and flavor. I would enjoy more having an udon or sweet potato starch noodles for some bite. Overall, I enjoyed it, and I'm thinking of coming back for a Sunday roast.
