About This Pub

Ah, the Hammersmith Ram – it's one of those classic British pubs that just draws you in with its cosy corners and cheerful atmosphere, making it a top spot for a relaxed catch-up over a drink or a hearty meal. I love how they've nailed that homely feel with natural light flooding in and a great range of craft beers and wines to choose from; it's always a treat to sip on something special while chatting away. The food really stands out too – their seasonal small plates and Sunday roasts are packed with flavour, all thanks to fresh, local ingredients and a commitment to sustainability, which feels like a nice nod to supporting our own. Plus, being so close to Hammersmith Station and nearby theatres makes it dead handy for a quick stop before or after an event. On the flip side, though, I've heard from a few that the quality can be hit or miss, especially with a recent change in chefs that left one person disappointed after a previously stellar visit. And with some recent reviews averaging out a bit lower, it might not be the most reliable choice every time, particularly if you're turning up late when things could get a tad hectic. Overall, it's a solid pick for a good night out, but I'd say go in with an open mind and maybe book ahead to make the most of it – you'll likely have a cracking time if you catch it on a good day!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely cosy and inviting, with intimate nooks and plenty of natural light that makes you feel right at home.
  • They've got an impressive selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits – perfect for settling in with a pint or trying something new.
  • The food is a real highlight; their seasonal menus, including delicious pub grub and legendary Sunday roasts, use fresh, local British ingredients, which is brilliant for supporting our farmers.
  • It's in a super convenient spot, just a short walk from Hammersmith Station and near great venues like the Eventim Apollo, making it ideal for a pre-show drink or post-event unwind.
  • The staff are friendly and the service is spot on, especially for parties and events – it's a fun place to celebrate milestones.
  • They're dog-friendly, which is always a plus if you're popping in with your furry mate.
Cons
  • There might be some inconsistency with the food quality, as one recent review mentioned a new chef affecting what used to be excellent dishes, so it could vary depending on when you visit.
  • Recent feedback shows a bit of a dip, with an average rating around 3.5 out of 5, suggesting it might not always hit the mark for everyone.
  • It can get busy, especially near closing time, which might lead to rushed service if you're arriving late.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A NEW CHEF CAN HAVE ON EXCELLENT INGREDIENTS!! I have visited the Hammersmith Ram a while back as a party of 4, around March 2025. The food was amazing. We all thoroughly enjoyed every morsal of our food. Ambience was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. I have been pestering my partner to visit the Hammersmith Ram with me, as the food was amazing. We finally had a chance to visit the Ram for lunch today. What a disappointment. I would even go so far as to say it was really upsetting. I had hyped the Ram up so much, only to be served the food that we received. very bad. I ordered the sausages (which I presumed would be served with mashed potatoes) and my partner ordered the steak and chips. The steak was ok, but not seasoned. The chips were not very good either, just cheap frozen chips. The gravy that was served with my sausages, looked like watered down tea, horrible colour and so thin. The sausages were good quality, but not cooked properly. The sausages just about made it to the grill, pasty colour of the sausages as you can see in the photos. I was offered some more of the same gravy, which I declined. Instead of mash, the sausages were served on a bed of dry, crushed, over cooked, new potatoes with the skin on. I was gob smacked. WE PAID £55.20 FOR BREAD STARTER, TWO MAINS, COKE AND A GLASS OF WINE. I couldn't eat my meal, so I asked for a doggie back to take the food home for my dog. Before putting the food in the doggie bag, I cut everything up to help soak up the watery gravy. When I raised my concerns to the server, We were informed that they had a new chef, and that everyone was praising the new menu. There was no effort to offer a free drink, or offer a discount for the next visit. nothing. On our way out, the server who had seen that I had chopped the food up for my dog, smiled and said to me enjoy the food. By this stage I was fuming and snapped back that the 'food' was for the DOG!! I will not be returning to the Hammersmith Ram. Having read through the reviews here on Google, I don't believe for one second that these reviews are real. 8 5 start reviews in 2 days? I would hope that google check these reviews. seems not. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AT THE HAMMERSMITH RAM

I found myself in Hammersmith looking for a nice spot for a casual pub lunch, and The Hammersmith Ram immediately caught my eye. The exterior seemed so welcoming that I decided to head in for a quick drink. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, with a relaxed and friendly vibe that made us feel comfortable from the start. The staff were fantastic attentive, genuinely helpful, and enjoying their work. They took the time to help me choose a drink, and their service throughout our visit was excellent. We were seated quickly, and I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went. The table service was efficient and very personable, which made it feel more like a special treat than just a casual drop-in. The food was well presented and made with care. Every detail from the arrangement on the plate to the timing of the service was spot on. I also loved that the pub is dog-friendly! This added a real sense of community and comfort, demonstrating that they've created an environment where everyone feels welcome, including our four-legged friends.I will return to The Hammersmith Ram, next time with my dog and some friends in tow. I also attend many business meetings, and this pub is now on my list of venues to bring clients to as it strikes the perfect balance of professionalism and relaxed charm. I highly recommend The Hammersmith Ram if you're in the area and looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuinely lovely atmosphere. Thank you to the team at The Hammersmith Ram you’ve gained a new regular!

Despite our late arrival, the restaurant managed to deliver high-quality food, even during closing time. The service was exceptional, and the food was excellent. We'll definitely be visiting again!
