About This Pub

Ah, The Lyric Bar – it's one of those places in London that feels like a reliable neighbourhood hangout, tucked away in Lyric Square, where you might pop in for a coffee or a light meal before catching a show. From the chats I've heard, the staff are often charming and efficient, making it a welcoming stop with a solid range of options that hit the spot for a quick bite. It's particularly ace if you're theatre-bound, offering that perfect pre-show buzz. But, let's be straight, it's not all smooth sailing – there are times when service drags or goes awry, like mixing up orders or serving things in a less than appealing way, which can leave you feeling a bit frustrated. The food quality has had its fair share of gripes too, with some finding it underwhelming or poorly presented. Overall, if you're in the area and up for a laid-back visit, it's worth a go, but maybe keep your expectations in check and have a backup plan for those off days – it's got potential, but needs a bit more polish to truly shine.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff can be absolutely lovely and friendly, making you feel right at home for a quick chat and a smile.
  • It's got a decent selection of food and drinks, perfect for grabbing a coffee, muffin, or something to nibble on before or after a show.
  • Great spot if you're heading to a performance nearby – ideal for pre or post-show vibes with quick service when it's on point.
Cons
  • Service can be hit or miss, with some reports of it being slow, incompetent, or even getting orders wrong, which is a real letdown.
  • Food and drink quality isn't always up to scratch – think plastic cups, rusty trays, and disappointing items like grapes that aren't in the best state.
  • Waiting times can drag on, and the interior might not be everyone's cup of tea, feeling a bit underwhelming or not as inviting as you'd hope.

Such bad service. Tried to get two coffees and staff were so incompetent, slow and weird.

A great bar for pre, post, or mid show drinks and food. Great service here.

Awful experience and service. Cofee and tea served in plastic cups, for takeaway in a rusty metal tray. And the interior looks like a place for homeless. Very disappointed

Waiting time are long and staff got my order wrong 2 times. Very disappointed to have been eating this charcuterie and cheese board just to find out this is the state of the grapes I'd been eating. Disgusting! Make sure to double check your food. Also variety and quality of food was very poor in general. Would not eat here again.

Met a friend here for coffee & a muffin. The staff are lovely! Coffee was a tad small (I like my coffee and like a decent size!) But the coffee was lovely! Muffins were yummy. A good selection of food and drink, quick service and staff are lovely. Really nice little place to go for a coffee and a nibble!
