About This Pub

Ah, Greens Lancaster – it's one of those places that can really hit the spot for a casual get-together, especially if you're up for some pool, darts, or even a singalong during karaoke nights. From what I've gathered from the chats online, the atmosphere is generally buzzing and friendly, with a good selection of drinks and some surprisingly tasty food like those legendary dirty fries that even chip skeptics rave about. It's affordable most of the time, with deals that make it easy on the wallet, and when the staff are in good form, they're spot on. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – there are tales of grumpy bar staff who might cut your fun short or play favourites, and it can feel a tad more expensive than the local alternatives, which might leave you scratching your head. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 3.8, it's worth a punt if you're in Lancaster, just go in with your eyes open and maybe check for those special deal days to make the most of it. All in all, it's a decent shout for a night out, as long as you don't mind the occasional hiccup.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on, with a great vibe that makes it a solid go-to for a relaxed pint or watching the game.
  • They've got some cracking deals on drinks, and it's generally budget-friendly, which is always a win for a night out.
  • The food's a highlight – those dirty fries sound a bit mad but are apparently delicious, and there's a good range of options to keep things interesting.
  • Plenty of fun activities like pool tables and karaoke, which really liven up the place on the right nights.
  • Staff can be polite and efficient when they're on form, making for a pleasant visit.
Cons
  • Service can be hit or miss, with some reports of rude or standoffish bar staff that put a dampener on the evening.
  • It's a bit pricey compared to other spots in town, which might not sit well if you're watching the pennies.
  • There have been issues with not being able to finish a game of darts or other activities, even when the place is quiet, which feels a bit unfair.
  • Recent experiences suggest inconsistent service, like staff being chatty with mates but stone-faced with others, leaving a mixed bag of memories.
  • The overall buzz has dipped lately, with some recent reviews pointing to underwhelming vibes that don't quite live up to the hype.

Could be so much better. Rude standoffish bar man. Forgets there’s a tonne of other places to go. Wouldn’t let us finish our game of darts - place was dead too, we were in a party of 9 buying drinks so they lost money, darts -£2.50 pint £5 x 9 doesn’t make sense

The place gives a good vibe and ambience is great. People who are looking for a go-to place can surely check this out. Budget friendly, polite staffs.

A review said about the staff being friendly and efficient. Fair enough, but someone else must have been on shift then! Because today the young woman behind the bar delighted in bantering with a customer she knew, then became almost Trappist and poker-faced when serving an older woman and then me. I’ll not be going back.

Greens and straight to the point, excellent. Their dirty fries are as super delicious as it’s possible for something sounding so unusual to be. I don’t even like fries and generally avoid them, preferring traditional ‘fat’ chips. But a surprise visit with friends turned into a delight courtesy of the belly filling ‘dirty’ but delicious fries. The high quality of the food prove that the chef is a genius. The extras blew the roof off my pallets all helped down by super friendly staff. The final cherry on the cake are the great prices, better than anywhere in the city centre.

Nice bar for an easy pint. More expensive than others in town but have good deals if you go on the right day. Pool tables are good and well priced. Good range of drinks. Atmosphere good when they do the karaoke.
