About This Pub

Ah, The Bobbin – it's one of those classic pubs that really hits the spot for a relaxed evening out. From what I've gathered from chats with others who've been, the staff can be absolute gems, like Izzy and Sue who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure everything's just right. The drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a great buzz with things like pool, darts, and even a jukebox to get the good times rolling. It's got that authentic traditional feel that's hard to beat, and the clean environment just adds to the appeal. But, to keep it real, not every visit is perfect – a couple of people have shared stories about certain staff giving off 'mean girls' vibes, which could leave you feeling a bit judged. Plus, if you're hoping for a quiet catch-up, the music might drown out the conversation a touch. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night in Lancaster, as long as you go in with an open mind and keep your expectations balanced.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
  • Prices are spot on – it's an inexpensive spot, so you can enjoy a few drinks without worrying about the wallet.
  • It has a lovely traditional pub vibe with fun extras like pool, darts, and a jukebox to keep things lively.
  • The selection of real ales and drinks is pretty decent, perfect for a proper pint or two.
  • The place is kept clean and tidy, which always makes for a more enjoyable visit.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned the bar staff can come across as a bit judgmental or overly cool, which might put you off.
  • The music can be a tad too loud at times, making it hard to have a proper chat if that's what you're after.

Edgy and cool in the best way! Friendliest and most welcoming bar staff in lancaster and cheaper than the pub! Cheap jukebox available to all

The ideal place to come if you want to feel judged and be laughed at by the bar staff, who are obviously way cooler and more edgy than you are. Especially the guy with the pat butcher earrings. Pure mean girls vibes.

Came in here on a Monday night, it wasn’t too busy and we were served by Izzy and Sue. They were both lovely and welcoming. Drinks were amazing too, and the pub was very clean :)

Another pub in Casta's 2023 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. A large open plan traditional pub. Pool table, darts and several TV's. Two slot machines. Music a bit too obtrusive for me and Casta. Good selection of four real ales. Casta took Lord Marples bitter from Thornbridge brewery. There is a back room with another pool table and beyond that an outdoor area.
