About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Stonewell Tap – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot if you're after a quality pint and a good vibe in Lancaster. Tucked away in the heart of the city centre, it's all about that craft beer scene with 16 taps offering a constantly changing lineup, plus real ales and artisan gins that keep things fresh and interesting. I love how they've embraced live music and open mic nights, which add such a welcoming energy and give local talents a chance to shine – it's like popping into a friendly gathering with mates. The staff are genuinely top-notch, always on hand with a smile and some solid advice on what to order, and those little perks like board games and wallet-friendly deals make it even more appealing for a casual catch-up. On the downside, a few have mentioned the beers aren't quite as chilled as they could be, which might put a slight dampener on things if you're particular about your pint's temperature. Overall, though, it's a cracking spot that does craft brews and atmosphere proud, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for a balanced pub experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The craft beer selection is absolutely brilliant – with 16 taps and a rotating board, there's always something new and exciting to try, just like Tom mentioned in his review.
  • Live music and open mic nights, especially on Thursdays and Sundays, create a warm and vibrant atmosphere that's perfect for a fun night out.
  • The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, often going the extra mile to recommend drinks or keep things tidy, as David noted.
  • They've got great little extras like board games and mid-week deals, making it a welcoming spot for a relaxed evening with mates.
Cons
  • Some drinks, like the craft beers, might not always be as cold as you'd hope, which Jessica pointed out could use a bit of improvement.

Great place for crafty ales, they have a frequently changing board of 16 beers so there's always something interesting to try 🍻

We did our usual Saturday walk from Crook o lune holiday park into lancaster and dropped in as usual to the ‘Taps’ a good selection of craft ales. The bar man this Saturday was very good, attentive, pleasant and knowledgeable. He attended a table and cleaned it as soon as people left and was very quick serving. Needless to say the ale was on form. 💯

Good selection of craft beers. I'd only ask for them to keep them a bit colder. Also, we enjoy the boardgames and the live music that gives this place a nice vibe.

Such a lovely bar, with great service and a fantastic selection of beers. I originally bought a beer cider for my wife and for the next round, noticed the mid week offer, of 5 halves of tap beer for £12, or 3 X gins and 2 X tonics for £12. So we gave it a go. All the tap beers were excellent and there was a lot on offer. A must visit is you like real ale and a bonus if you around, for the mid week offers.
