About This Pub

Ah, The Study Room in Lancaster – what a lovely little find it is! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its welcoming staff who make every visit feel personal and fun, like you're catching up with old friends over a pint. The food's a real highlight too; think hearty, well-prepared dishes that cater to all sorts, including those gluten-free options that don't often pop up in your average pub. Pair that with a cracking atmosphere that's both unique and inviting, and you've got yourself a spot that's ideal for everything from a quiet date night to a lively engagement party. On the flip side, though, their website's been a bit unreliable, which could leave you scratching your head when trying to plan ahead. And while the hours are generally straightforward, the listings do vary, so it's smart to confirm before you go. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out – the positives far outweigh the niggles, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after that perfect blend of relaxation and cheer.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going above and beyond to make you feel right at home – it's like chatting with mates behind the bar
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with delicious options like fish tacos and hunters chicken, plus thoughtful choices for gluten-free folks
  • The atmosphere and decor are just brilliant, creating a unique and cosy vibe that's perfect for a relaxed night out or even a special occasion
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from cracking cocktails to non-alcoholic options, so there's something for everyone
  • It's a great spot for events, with the team handling things like decorations and large groups with real ease and enthusiasm
Cons
  • The website seems to be playing up with some errors, which makes it a bit tricky to get the latest info before you head over
  • The operating hours listed can look a tad confusing with varying times, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises
  • While the reviews are mostly glowing, the overall rating hints that there might be the odd off day with service or busier evenings

Very friendly, welcoming staff. Morgan and the girls create a fantastic atmosphere and can’t do enough to make you feel welcome. Food was absolutely delicious and the drink selection was fantastic. Highly recommended and an easy 10/10 from me. Deffo going back to sample more of the food

We had our Engagement party here at the weekend. Morgan and all the staff, went above and beyond. Absolutely brilliant place, food, and the service was fast and greeted with very friendly staff. They also did a load of decorations for us which was so kind! With nearly 30 of us, they all did amazing and we never had to ask for anything as they were always on their toes filling up any empty drinks. I would recommend going here! Best place in Lancaster for bottomless brunch. Thank you again team! (Including the chefs- had lots of compliments from our guest)

Me and my boyfriend thought we'd go for a little date night and try somewhere new. The decor/ atmosphere of the restaurant/bar is absolutely beautiful and so unique. The server we had was really lovely and attentive towards us. The food was also just absolutely lovely. The fish tacos were one of the best things I'd eaten in ages, and the prices were really good for the food it is! Would definitely recommend and is great for a sweet date night spot.

Loved this little Lancashire pub with a nice atmosphere, great cocktails including non-alcoholic ones and decent food. They even had gluten free items on the menu which I’m impressed with because I don’t see that too often in pubs.

Really nice, thought it would be less so and that it would be a quick turnover place. But the food came after about 20 mins, nicely prepared and presented. Wife went for three starters (which was an offer) and they came on their own little platter. I went for hunters chicken, was spot on. And we had some bacon fries.
