About This Pub

Ah, Crofters in Barrow-in-Furness – it's got that cosy, home-from-home charm that you don't always find these days, with a solid lineup of cask ales and some standout Sunday roasts that could really make your day. The beer garden is a proper treat when the weather's on your side, and if you're after a place that's family-oriented with a friendly buzz, it's got that in spades. They've even sorted out nice rooms for overnight stays, which is handy if you're exploring the area. But, and I say this with a bit of caution, it's not all plain sailing – I've heard tales of dodgy service where things take forever or tables aren't up to snuff, and the food can be hit or miss, with some simple dishes falling flat or lacking that fresh touch. Still, if you're up for giving it a go, weigh up the gems against the rough edges; it might just surprise you in the best way, or at least give you a good yarn to share over your next pint!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The cask ales are spot on, offering a great selection that's perfect for a relaxing pint with mates.
  • They've got a lovely sunny beer garden, ideal for soaking up the rays on a nice day.
  • It's family-friendly with a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
  • The Sunday roasts come highly recommended – absolutely delicious and well-seasoned from what some folks have said.
  • Plus, there's on-site accommodation with comfy, modern rooms if you're planning to stay over.
Cons
  • Food quality can be inconsistent, with some reports of basic dishes like jacket potatoes being served on dirty plates or not up to scratch.
  • Service has its off days, like waiting ages for the chef or dealing with unclean tables upon arrival.
  • It's a bit out in the middle of nowhere, which might make it tricky to find other spots nearby for a full day out.
  • A few mentions of underwhelming meals, such as unseasoned curries or reheated chips that don't quite hit the mark.

Turned up at 12 noon for lunch and was informed the chef hadn't turned up yet. Took over an hour to get 2 bog standard jacket potatoes served on filthy plates. Could have done better at home.

THE best Sunday roast in Barrow. Deliciously consistent! Every single item on the plate is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chefs own sticky toffee pudding is excellent. Highly recommended!!!

Really wasn’t what we were expecting as we thought it was a bed and breakfast. Overall the staff in the pub were very nice. Food was not bad when we ate there. I think it’s just in the middle of no where so you have to find places to go which took up to an hour. The sea was great and that wasn’t that far from the pub.

Absolutely shocking, looked forward to the veg curry, but it was broccoli and peas in the unseasonal stock with chilli stock, in a bowl, and it looked like it when it came, chips had been reheated, dry and soft, not crispy and fluffy, I'm no Gordon Ramsey, but god.

Absolute shambles, we booked days before for a meal when we turned up we were shown to a dirty table even though there were lots of clean tables, the dirty glasses were moved but the table wasn't cleaned. We had looked online at the menu before booking but the menus were not available and a basic printed list was on the table which was a really poor selection but we thought let's make the most of it so I went to order, I was then told there was only one chef who was making an afternoon tea! It would be ten minutes and they would come and take my order, it was when I got back to the table I found out the two tables next to us had been waiting 30 minutes and 35 minutes and hadn't even had there order taken. It wasn't even busy we finished our drinks and left.
