About This Pub

You know, when I think about Ego at The Knowles Arms in Blackburn, it's one of those spots that just feels like a proper gem for a relaxed evening out. The food really stands out – it's Mediterranean-inspired and comes out looking fabulous, with flavours that hit the mark more often than not, based on what folks are saying. I love how they throw in those deals like three courses for £40; it's such a smart way to enjoy a meal without it costing the earth. The team there are an absolute delight, always chatty and attentive, which makes the whole visit that bit more enjoyable. On the downside, a few people have mentioned things like the chicken being a touch overdone, and the menu might not wow you if you're after something more straightforward or varied. Still, with a solid 4.3 rating from loads of happy visitors, it's a place I'd happily recommend for a catch-up with mates – just keep expectations realistic, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented – it's one of those places where every meal feels like a treat.
  • The staff are lovely and friendly, always making you feel welcome with their professional yet warm service.
  • They've got some cracking offers, like three courses for £40, which makes it brilliant value for a night out.
  • The setting is stunning, with plenty of parking and a comfortable, clean atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing.
  • The cocktails are spot on and really good value, adding a nice touch to the whole experience.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit overcooked, like the chicken in a few reviews, which might put you off if you're fussy about that.
  • The menu isn't everyone's cup of tea – it's got a Mediterranean vibe, but it might feel a tad limited if you're after more traditional pub grub.
  • While it's generally reliable, there have been mentions of minor niggles, so it's not flawless every time.

Fabulous every time! One of our favourite places for food. Never been disappointed with anything. The staff are all lovely, friendly yet professional and we always receive a warm welcome! Food is lovely and nicely presented. Cocktails are great and good value! Cannot fault anything.- lovely clean restaurant which is cosy with a nice atmosphere. Staff look smart and always greet us with a lovely smile. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they work really hard but are always polite and pleasant. Love this place!

Enjoyed a lovely meal here last night on the Wednesday 'dine out' menu - 3 courses for 2 people £40 (£20pp). Absolute bargain especially for the quality and portion sizes. Service was great too, thank you to the lovely lady who served us. Will definitely be back soon to try other items on the menu.

The food was pleasant enough. The chickens were slightly over done, my son's was burnt, he picked off the black and we made a do. (No we didn't complain, he are it). The place is stunning. Beautiful setting. Lots of parking. Comfortable tables and chairs. The menu wasn't our favourite, literally a personal taste issue not a restaurant issue. The staff were lovely and attentive. The price was reasonable. The cocktail list was great ( didn't have one so can't comment). Would return for an evening meal, not for brunch.

Called in here at the last minute, this is a nice place to eat and drink, the food was very good too. Service from the staff is good. My meal was excellent. I would like to come back and see if they still have the same standards. We both really enjoyed the meal at Ego restaurant and would recommend this. The furniture is also modern and gives a great atmosphere to the place. This car park isn’t the best but the food is good.
