About This Pub

Ah, the Drawbridge Inn – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you're through the door. Tucked away in Shirley, it's got this lively vibe that's just right for a casual catch-up with mates over a pint or tucking into some proper flame-grilled fare. I love how the staff are so friendly and attentive; they make you feel like a regular from the get-go, whether you're ordering via the app or at the bar. The food's a highlight too – think juicy Sunday roasts and great value deals that won't break the bank – and it's ace that they welcome dogs, adding to that relaxed, community feel. Plus, with all the live sports action on offer, it's a top pick for rugby or Euros fans. But, fair's fair, it's not all perfect; there have been a couple of reports of undercooked dishes or the odd cleanliness issue, like messy trays, which might leave you a bit disappointed if you're unlucky. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening – just keep an eye on those details, and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, always going the extra mile to help out.
  • The food is a real winner, with standout dishes like the tender slow-cooked beef rib and hearty Sunday roasts that leave you satisfied.
  • It's brilliant value for money, offering deals like two meals for a steal, making it easy on the wallet for a night out.
  • Being dog-friendly is a nice touch, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate without any fuss.
  • The atmosphere is spacious, clean, and buzzing, especially when there's live sport on – perfect for catching the big games.
Cons
  • There have been a few slip-ups with food, like undercooked bits, which could put a dampener on your meal.
  • Some areas could do with a bit more attention to cleanliness, such as grubby trays or a wobbly toilet seat in the disabled facilities.
  • It might look a tad rough from the outside, so don't judge it by its cover – it's better inside, but still worth noting.

Its a pub local to us that is dog friendly. We came here for a Sunday meal. Everyone was very happy with their meals - the slow cooked beef rib was the star of the show. It was tender and tasty. The rest of the group had Sunday roasts, steak and chicken wings. Great meal all around. Tony was really friendly and quick to ensure we all had what we ordered. Kayley came over to make sure all was ok. Will definitely recommend .

Went on a little jolly and stumbled across this pub. A little rough round the edges, until you walk in, what a lovely surprise. Spacious, relaxing, clean and friendly. I am now converted to thatchers haze wow love it. We ordered food on the app at the table. 15-20 mins later it arrived. Yes yes yes my belly has spoken just about as it can't fit anymore in. The food was top notch. As u can see by the pics. Great price, good midweek deals to be had. Will be trying a Greene King again. Definitely recommend this place if yr passing.

I had my mom's birthday there . Very friendly staff especially Tom which was more than helpful. Customer service is great. The food was so delicious. It has good vibes and a friendly atmosphere. The wheelchair is accessible and the disabled toilet could do with a new toilet seat as it is loose, they have background music which is enjoyable. They have a separate smoking area which also has a speaker outside. I'd still highly recommend it to family and friends and other people.

right i love this place i always have ive been here quite a few times but today was awful several parts of the chicken was undercooked and why was the tray underneath my food filthy and my moms wasn’t clean either also they told me there was no tator tots but bought them out to my mom after so that’s a bit confusing but that’s minor also the food took half an hour to come out and for some reason every single persons came out at the same time and my coke was flat also don’t call them chicken nuggets on your menu if there chunks big as my hand mate

Very good value food and drink. The IPA on draught is an enjoyable pint. The classic meal deal with two meals for £13.49 is really great value. You can use the app for table service or order from the bar.
