About This Pub

Ah, Ale Hub in Dickens Heath, it's one of those places that just feels like a second home, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the staff really go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome, which is such a treat when you're popping in for a quick drink or a longer catch-up. The selection of ales and beers is spot on, always fresh and varied, so whether you're a craft beer enthusiast or just after something straightforward, you're sorted. It's got that relaxed, community feel with events like live music that can turn an ordinary evening into something memorable, and being dog-friendly just adds to the charm – perfect for a walk followed by a sit-down. On the flip side, though, it might not always hit the mark if you catch it on a quiet afternoon; the atmosphere can be a tad mellow then, and with doors not opening 'til one in the afternoon, it's not ideal for those early-day outings. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back night out, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just plan around the timings for the best experience!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, welcoming, and ready with a smile, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of ales and beers that's spot on, with plenty of choices to suit different tastes and always well-kept.
  • It's a lovely spot for a relaxed catch-up, with a warm atmosphere that's perfect for socialising, plus it's dog-friendly so you can bring your furry friend along.
  • They host fun events like live music and open mic nights, which really add to the community vibe and keep things lively.
  • The place is spotlessly clean, right down to the toilets, and it's just a short walk from the canal, making it ideal for a post-stroll pint.
Cons
  • It can sometimes feel a bit subdued during quieter times, like mid-afternoon, so if you're after a buzzing crowd, you might want to time your visit right.
  • They don't open until 13:00, which means it's not great for a morning brew or if you're an early riser looking for a spot to start the day.

I think we went at a very quite time one afternoon so atmosphere was subdued. Drinks were what is expected of an Ale hub. lol

Lovely friendly welcome, well kept ales, great choice and spotlessly clean (especially the toilets) walking distance from the canal too but be aware the gate at The wharf closes at 9pm
