About This Pub
Ah, Mortons Kitchen – it's one of those places in Solihull that really draws you in with its bright, stylish setup and a menu full of flavourful options, from their famous brunch to hearty evening dishes. I've heard from quite a few folks that the food is genuinely wonderful, all prepared with fresh ingredients and a creative touch, and the open kitchen adds to that homely feel, while the terrace is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon. The team seems spot-on too, offering that friendly service that makes you want to linger. But, let's be straight, there are a couple of downsides that've cropped up in chats – like that shocking case of food poisoning from a pizza, which is a real shame and something to keep in mind if you're planning a meal. Plus, it can get a bit rowdy at times, and not everyone appreciates the odd lapse in managing things like indoor vaping or pets on the furniture. All in all, if you're popping by for a coffee or a bite, it's worth giving it a go for the positives, but maybe go in with your eyes open to avoid any surprises – it's all about that balanced experience, isn't it?
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food here is absolutely top-notch – think fresh handmade cakes, wood-fired pizzas, and delicious Sunday roasts, all made on-site with real care and creativity.
-
It's got a welcoming, lively atmosphere that's perfect for all-day dining, from morning coffee to evening meals, with a tree-shaded terrace that's ideal for soaking up the sun.

-
They offer great variety for different occasions, whether it's a casual brunch or something more, and it's open seven days a week with flexible hours.
Cons
-
There have been some worrying reports of food poisoning, like that incident with the goats cheese pizza, which could put anyone off.
-
It can get a bit noisy and crowded, especially in the bar area, making it tricky for a quiet catch-up with mates.
-
Staff don't always step in to sort out issues like vaping inside or dogs jumping on chairs, which might spoil the experience for others.
-
The place has had moments of feeling empty or inconsistent, as one regular mentioned it being unusually quiet one morning.

Mortons Kitchen gave me horrific food poisoning! Do not eat here!!
On edit from my previous review I feel as though more detail regarding the food poisoning and the lasting effects from this from eating at Morton’s is ideal.
I ate the goats cheese pizza at this establishment thinking nothing of it in the restaurant as it seemed like a nice, upmarket atmosphere however I was incredibly wrong. Around 3 hours later I started experiencing severe stomach pain and then the food poisoning began and lasted for around 72 hours. I informed Morton’s of the situation as I just wanted a refund of my money because of this. The food I ate here made me incredibly ill and this has also had a lasting effect on my stomach. Morton’s took no accountability for this l, refusing to refund me and were actually very condescending towards me throughout the whole process. You would expect better from a well known business.
Morton’s should be shut down and I just wanted to urge people to not eat at this establishment
We have always enjoyed our meal and drink. Can get a bit loud but then you can go to the restaurant part.
Also, staff should ask customers not to vape inside and not to let their dogs on the chairs in the bar part.
Lovely drop in on Bank Holiday Sunday.
Fab service, food and team
What a lovely little place. We only stopped in for a coffee. Hence, I can't rate the food. But, from what I did see being served, it looked extremely good.
We were only in the area for an appointment, but if we lived local, this is somewhere I would definitely spend a lot of time.
As a local resident, I used to visit Morton’s regularly in the mornings to get some work done. I’d usually have a bacon roll and a coffee for around £5. The place was always busy, even early on, often filled with mums after the school run.
This morning, I walked in to find it completely empty. I ordered a breakfast roll and a coffee, which came to £11.95—steep, but fair enough. During my visit, only two other tables arrived.
I ordered a second coffee, waited 15 minutes, but it never arrived, so I gave up and left. When I mentioned it to the staff at the bar, a manager overheard but didn’t offer an apology or any response.
I’d understand if they were busy, but with just two other tables, there’s no excuse. It’s disappointing to see how much things have changed—this place was thriving and the service was exceptional when the Salisbury family owned it.
