About This Pub
Ah, Doctor Brown's in Urmston – it's one of those neighbourhood spots that has its heart in the right place, but isn't quite hitting the mark across the board. From what I've gathered from a few chats online, the staff are absolute gems; they're friendly and make you feel right at home, which is always a plus when you're out for a casual evening. The beers on tap get a thumbs up too, and if you're into a bit of entertainment, the music and karaoke can liven things up nicely – I can imagine it being a laugh with the right crowd. On the flip side, though, the volume on that karaoke is a bit over the top; it's so loud that trying to catch up with mates turns into a shouting match, which isn't ideal for everyone. And let's not forget the drinks – reports of warm Prosecco and some truly awful Rosé wine suggest they could do with sorting out their storage or selection. Plus, it looks like the place might be shut for now, so you'd want to verify that before making plans. All in all, it's worth a go if you're local and in the mood for something straightforward, but maybe keep your expectations in check and have a backup option handy.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are really friendly and welcoming, which makes for a pleasant atmosphere when you're popping in for a drink.
-
They've got decent beers on tap and some good entertainment options like music and karaoke, which can make for a fun night out if you're in the mood.
Cons
-
The music, especially the karaoke, can be far too loud, making it tough to have a proper chat without shouting over it.
-
Drinks are a bit of a letdown – things like the Prosecco and Rosé wine have been described as warm and undrinkable, which is a real shame.
-
It seems like the place might be closed at the moment, so you'd want to check that before heading over.

Staff were pleasant enough. Karaoke on, far too loud, can't hold a conversation in there if music on unless you're shouting in each others ears. Wine was terrible, Prosecco bottles warm, both small and large bottles. Rose wine was awful, warm, purple, and undrinkable, didn't resemble a rose at all, was the colour of blackcurrant squash but didn't taste as good as a squash. Couldn't get a seat, reserved signs on the tables that were for 2 hours ahead of time we were there!!
Came here for first time decent music and decent beers on tap. I would come back.
Nice bar always has entertainment.Staff really nice.
