About This Pub

You know, chatting about pubs like we're down at the local, I'd say Owen's Kitchen & Bar in Urmston is one of those hidden gems that really hits the mark for a great night out. The food's a standout – we're talking delicious British classics with a fresh twist, like their new summer menu full of vibrant plates such as Cheshire lamb rump or chilli beef samosas, and don't even get me started on those Sunday roasts that folks rave about; it's all hearty, flavoursome, and leaves you feeling chuffed. The service is spot on too, with staff who are genuinely attentive and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, whether it's for brunch, cocktails, or a special do. The atmosphere's just right – relaxed and tastefully done, with options for outdoor seating when the weather plays ball. On the flip side, it's not smack in the city centre, so if you're coming from further afield, it might take a bit of effort to get there, and it does get buzzing, which means booking a table is probably a smart move to skip any waits. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone after a proper British pub experience with a modern edge – honest, it's got that feel-good factor that makes you want to tell your mates about it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot-on – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts, fresh summer dishes like creamy burrata with peach, and bold small plates perfect for sharing; it's all full of flavour and feels like a proper treat.
  • The staff are so friendly and attentive, always making you feel right at home with their warm service and quick responses to any needs.
  • It's got a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with tasteful decor that's welcoming for everything from a casual brunch to a special celebration, and they've even got outdoor seating for when the sun's out.
  • With a stellar 4.8 rating from plenty of visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a fantastic experience, whether you're popping in for cocktails or a full meal.
Cons
  • It might be a tad out of the way if you're not local to Urmston, tucked away on Station Road, so planning your trip could take a bit of effort.
  • Things can get quite busy, especially with the popularity of their menus and events, so you'll probably want to book ahead to avoid any disappointment.

I was treated to brunch by my friend here and it didn't disappoint, a lovely little restaurant that has a relaxed vibe, tastefully decorated with friendly staff. The food was delicious. They have a couple of bistro tables outside so we finished our drinks outside while the sun was out. We both had a really nice experience and will be back.

Had a fantastic first meal here. The food was excellent: we had the sea bass and the chicken, followed by the awesome amaretto affogato. The service was second to none, and the decor and ambience were welcoming and relaxing. Will definitely be back!
