About This Pub
Ah, Kelder Wines – what a gem in Urmston! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The staff are top-notch, always chatting away and helping you pick out a wine that suits your fancy, whether you're a seasoned pro or just dipping your toes in. Their selection is brilliant, with over 150 wines from around the globe, and I love how they highlight the organic and vegan ones – it's all about making sure you find something you'll really enjoy. Plus, the wine flights on Wednesdays are a real treat, and pairing them with a cheese board or some olives makes for a cracking night out. It's dog-friendly too, which is great if you're popping in with your pooch, and the outdoor seating with heaters means you can enjoy it even on a chilly evening. On the flip side, though, if you're not into wine and fancy a beer instead, it might not hit the spot, as the focus is firmly on the vino. The hours can look a bit muddled online, so it's worth double-checking before you go, and with no phone number, sorting out any queries online might feel a bit cumbersome. All in all, it's a fantastic little spot for a catch-up with friends or a quiet glass, but it's best if you're in the mood for wine over a full pub experience – I'd definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in Manchester!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend wines based on your tastes, making every visit feel personal and welcoming.
-
They've got a cracking selection of wines from all over the world, including organic and vegan options, and you can try them through fun wine flights, especially on Wednesdays.
-
It's a lovely spot for a relaxed catch-up with mates, with cosy seating inside and heated outdoor areas, plus it's dog-friendly so you can bring your furry friend along.
-
The prices are spot on for what you get – things like cheese boards and snacks are reasonably priced, and they've got events like wine tastings that add a bit of excitement.
-
Being in a neighbourhood like Urmston, it has that warm, local feel, and it's open most days with options for delivery if you're not nearby.
Cons
-
It seems like the operating hours might be a tad confusing based on what's listed, which could put you off if you're trying to plan a spontaneous visit.
-
As it's primarily a wine bar, it might not be the best choice if you're in the mood for a pint of ale or a wider range of beers – it's all about the wine here.
-
There's no phone number available, so getting in touch for bookings or queries can be a bit of a faff, especially if you're not tech-savvy with their app or website.
-
The food options are limited to sharing boards and snacks, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere rather than making a night of it.

I've just come back from maybe my 30th visit to Kelder and as usual we had an amazing time!
My partner and I ended up doing 3 of the Wednesday wine flights (3 wine tastings per flight), a 3 cheese board, some anchovies and some chorizo, which all came in at around £55.00. Theres always a great selection of wines and the new food menu was absolutely delicious! The anchovies and the Nicky Nook blue cheese can't be missed.
We almost always bring our dog with us and the staff are incredibly welcoming to all well behaved dogs. As usual, our pup got a few tasty treats from the team, and a bit of cheese and chorizo from our plates.
It's an incredibly comfortable venue and has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It's never too loud, and the outdoor seating is perfect in the summer. This is our regular for a reason, and I'm sure will continue to be as long as we live in Urmston x
Been here a few times as a couple and in groups and had a great time every time.
Really friendly staff and lovely wines for good prices. The staff are also really knowledgeable and happy to help make recommendations based on your tastes which was great for us!
My absolute favourite destination for a tipple with friends, a delicious cheeseboard selection or just a coffee while reading my book. Super dog friendly too.
Lovely staff, cosy seats, and good wines. Tasting boards mid week and try the cheese board!
Great little wine shop and bar with inside and outside seating. Wide choice of wines and other drinks in the bar as well as cheese/charcuterie platters. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. Particularly recommend wine flight Wednesday: three small (70ml) glasses of wine for a reasonable price!
