About This Pub

Ah, Craft Metropolis in Penge – what a lovely spot it is, isn't it? I've got to say, diving into their world of craft beers feels like uncovering hidden treasures; with 10 taps pouring out fresh, speciality brews that are hard to come by elsewhere, it's a real treat for anyone who appreciates a good sip. The staff are gems, always on hand with friendly advice to help you pick the perfect pour, and the atmosphere is just so relaxed and buzzing with positive energy – pair that with some Yard Sale pizzas, and you've got yourself a proper evening sorted. It's smack in the middle of Penge High Street, which is dead handy, and their online setup means you can get those curated beer boxes delivered straight to your door. But, on the flip side, it's a snug little place, so it can fill up quickly and feel a bit tight on peak nights, and without bookings, you might find yourself hovering by the door. Plus, those operating hours do look a bit muddled, especially for Sundays, which could throw a spanner in the works if you're not careful. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a laid-back drink or a beer adventure – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area, but keep in mind it's best suited for those who fancy something a tad more craft-focused rather than your standard pub crawl.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant – they've got 10 taps with fresh, exciting craft beers, including rare small-batch ones that you won't find just anywhere, perfect for sipping and savouring like a fine wine.
  • The staff are really knowledgeable and helpful; they'll guide you through the options and make you feel right at home, which adds to the cosy, friendly atmosphere.
  • It's a great spot for a relaxed casual drink, with a cool vibe and positive energy, plus they've got Yard Sale pizzas on offer to keep things tasty.
  • Convenient location on Penge High Street, not far from the train station, and they're open seven days a week, making it easy to pop in whenever the mood strikes.
  • They've got brilliant online options too, like next-day delivery and click-and-collect, so you can enjoy their curated boxes of beers from the comfort of your own home.
Cons
  • The space is quite small and cosy, which means it can get a bit crowded on busier evenings, so you might have to queue or stand if it's packed.
  • They don't take bookings, so it's first-come-first-served – that works for a quick visit, but if you're planning a group outing, you could end up waiting around.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, with multiple times for Sundays, which might confuse folks trying to plan their visit.
  • It's very much geared towards craft beer enthusiasts, so if you're not into that scene or prefer a more traditional pub feel, it might not be your cup of tea – or pint, rather.

A metropolis of craft beergeekiness with 10 on tap, including small batch, speciality craft beers you'll struggle to find elsewhere, taking beer into the sipping quality, long drink enjoyment of wine & liquor, sold in quarters & halfs. A modern typical tap room, small, cosy, focussed on drinking beer with other aficionados amongst fridges full of an eclectic beer variety. A hiding place with friendly, knowledgeable tapist. Great vibe music, within reclaimed wood pannelled walls. Plenty of cushioned seating in a brewery industrial style.

A small but almost perfectly formed beer shop and bar . On every visit I'm reminded of how well curated their beer selection is. If you're a lover of big juicy hazy ipas then look no further . One of the biggest issues is that it's a very hard place to leave. Oh and of course they have any other styles of beer available other than ipas . Highly recommend

Nice wee beer stop is this. Great selection of local and imported brews to try. Almost too many to choose from!! 12 taps on when we popped in, with some excellent pales and IPAs to sample. You can get a schooner here too, which appeals to me. There's a few tables for sitting and scoffing, and the prices are quite reasonable for a craft beer house. Good service. Knowledgeable bar keep. Decent tunes playing as well. Definitely worth stopping in for a few quality beers. Dog friendly.

A great selection of beers of many styles, and quick delivery. Their emails highlighting their new intake are very useful. Their store in Penge has a nice tap selection, and a lot of the beers available on the site can be bought there as well.
