About This Pub
Ah, Bridge House – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away near Penge and Crystal Palace, ideal for popping in after a stroll in the park. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place really shines with its inviting atmosphere; whether you're soaking up the sun in the beautiful beer garden or warming up inside with a mulled wine on a chilly day, it's got that effortless charm. The staff are an absolute delight, always polite and eager to make your visit special, and it's fantastic that they're so family-oriented until 7pm and even dog-friendly – who doesn't love a pub that treats your furry mate? Events like the Thursday night quiz add a fun twist, turning it into more than just a drink spot. On the food front, the Sunday roasts come highly recommended, with plenty of people raving about how tasty they are, paired with a great beer selection that keeps things flowing nicely. But, let's be straight, it's not all perfect – some grub, like the burgers, has left a few feeling short-changed, especially with the prices creeping up there; you might think twice if you're on a tighter budget or expecting top-notch quality for every bite. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up with mates, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the good vibes and community spirit make it worth a visit, and I'd say give it a go for that roast or a quiz night!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a welcoming spot with a lovely beer garden, perfect for chilling out after a walk in the nearby park, and it's got that community feel with events like Thursday quizzes and open mic nights.
-
The staff are brilliant; they're friendly, attentive, and really go the extra mile, especially for special occasions or when you're with the family – plus, it's great that they welcome dogs and even give them a treat.
-
Food highlights include delicious Sunday roasts and a solid selection of beers on tap; many folks rave about the meals and the cosy indoor and outdoor vibes, making it a top choice for a relaxed meal or drink.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the burgers, can be a bit disappointing and feel overpriced for what you get – for instance, an £18 chicken burger that didn't live up to expectations.
-
Prices are on the higher side overall, which might catch you off guard if you're after something more budget-friendly, especially when the food doesn't always hit the mark.

I booked tables in the outdoor area for my 40th birthday last weekend. There were around 25 of us and we had the absolute best time. The pub and beer garden are absolutely beautiful, the food is amazing and all of the staff were incredible. They went out of their way to make my day extra special, they were all so warm, friendly and efficient, and the manager’s were fantastic at communication before the event. Great pub. Would recommend 100%
Nice pub with decent outside area. Staff are always polite and the service is good. I would say the food is very expensive for what it is. Burgers are very disappointing- chicken burger was very processed and cost £18! I would expect proper chicken breast or thigh for that price, but it seemed like frozen chicken in breadcrumbs like you would get from Iceland. It’s a nice pub to visit for a pint in the sun, but I wouldn’t rush to get food there again.
Lovely pub with excellent food, strong selection of beers on tap and a friendly staff. Both indoor and outdoor atmospheres are quite nice with outside heaters in case you feel like having a drink at the garden during the cold season.
Fantastic pub - had an amazing Sunday Lunch here with family and the staff were great, especially with the kids. Would highly recommend
Myself and family had a sunday roast here having not had visited the pub before. I was very pleasantly surprised by the decor and ambience in the pub. There is some quirky artwork too. The service was very quick, although we had our table from 12o clock so were one of the first to eat. All tables were reserved which I guess is a good indicator of tasty food. I had the steak and ale pie, which was delicious. The portions were decent too. Only down side was no cranberry sauce for the roast chicken. Otherwise, highly recommend. I will definitely be coming back in the evening for some live music and a tipple! Thank you.
