About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Holden – it's one of those pubs that just hits the mark for a good time without any fuss. From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, it's got this warm, welcoming feel that makes you want to settle in straight away. The staff are brilliant, always on hand with a smile and quick service, which really makes the visit memorable. You're spoilt for choice with the drinks – a great selection of beers, craft ales, and cocktails – and the food doesn't disappoint either, especially those pub classics and Sunday roasts that folks rave about. Plus, with live music every Saturday and sports playing on big screens both inside and out, there's always something going on to keep things lively. The beer garden is a real gem for relaxing with mates, and it's lovely that they welcome dogs too, making it feel even more inclusive. On the flip side, though, the app they use for ordering can be a bit of a headache – not the most straightforward, so you might end up waiting or getting a tad annoyed. And if you're planning an evening that stretches late, remember the garden shuts at 10:30pm, which could cut things short on a chilly night if the heaters aren't playing ball. Overall, it's a place I'd recommend for a balanced mix of good vibes and decent value, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to set your expectations right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's warm and inviting, perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the get-go.
  • They've got live music on Saturdays and sports on big screens everywhere, which adds a real buzz to the place.
  • The food is spot on, with pub classics and cracking Sunday roasts that pair brilliantly with their wide range of beers and cocktails.
  • The beer garden is spacious and ideal for chilling out, and it's super dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry companion along.
Cons
  • The app for ordering isn't the easiest to use, which can be a bit frustrating if you're trying to get things sorted quickly.
  • Some outdoor features, like the patio heaters, might not always work as they should, which could put a dampener on things in cooler weather.
  • The garden closes at 10:30pm every day, so if you're hoping for a late-night session outside, you might be out of luck.

Great Pub with Excellent Service We had a great time at this pub! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. A special shoutout to Jet, the bartender, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. It’s definitely a place we’d love to come back to!

Regular live bands (Cherry Pie. band at the mo). Highly recommended. I didn't eat, but looks like others enjoyed their meals

Lovely pub with a beautiful beer garden and lots of TVS with different sport on each. Wide range of wines and craft beers. Also have discounts via their app, where you get 10% of your purchase back in points to spend next time. Probably one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in a long time - hands down the best yorkshires. Friendly team and great atmosphere.

The food in here was absolutely fantastic, the service was great and the atmosphere was really bubbling. The only downsides are that the app you have to use to order was not particularly user friendly at all, and the patio heaters outside weren't working. The food is definitely a cut above what you would expect in your average pub, fantastic flavours really well executed.
