About This Pub
Ah, the Brentwood – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. I've got to say, the team there are just lovely; they're always up for a chat and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, whether you're just nipping in for a quick drink or settling in for a full meal. The food's a real highlight too – think perfectly aged steaks and a breakfast that sets you up right for the day – and it's all in this charming, historical setting that's Grade II listed, which gives it that extra touch of character. They're big on sports, so if you're into watching the likes of the Women's Euros or rugby tours, it's a fantastic spot to gather with friends and cheer on the teams. On the flip side, though, it's not without its little flaws; you might run into the odd service mix-up, like dishes arriving a bit too soon, or find that some menu items have been swapped out, which can be a minor letdown. Overall, it's an affordable and welcoming place that's worth a visit, especially if you're in Rotherham and fancy a relaxed night out – just keep expectations realistic for the small things, and you'll have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at the Brentwood are absolutely brilliant – they're so friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
The food is spot on, with tasty steaks and hearty breakfasts that hit the spot, and they've got a great vibe for watching live sports like the Women's Euros or rugby matches.
-
It's family-friendly with plenty of facilities, including disabled access, free WiFi, and even a car park, so it's easy to pop in for a relaxed evening.
-
The atmosphere is lively yet cosy, perfect for a pint and a chat, and being a Grade II listed spot adds a bit of historical charm to the experience.
Cons
-
There can be the occasional slip-up with service, like mains arriving before you've finished your starters, which might throw off your meal a tad.
-
Sometimes menu items aren't available due to changes, which could be a bit disappointing if you're set on something specific.
-
While it's generally affordable, a few folks have mentioned small niggles with bookings or extras, so it's worth double-checking when you plan ahead.

We just enjoyed a two night stay at The Brentwood, whilst attending an event at Sheffield Arena.
We can't fault the hotel and pub.
We were made to feel very welcome on arrival.
Our room was clean and had everything we needed.
We'd booked for breakfast both mornings which was spot on and we dined in both evenings. The food was delicious and very good value. The staff couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble.
It cost us about £12 each way in a taxi to the Arena but after the event, we learnt that it's even cheaper to get the tram from Rotherham to Sheffield and just get a taxi to Rotherham tram stop.
I would definitely stay at The Brentwood again and would highly recommend it.
5* from us - thanks for having us 🙂
Booked (directly) for 3 nights, using 2 offers. No problem to stay in 1 room over 2 bookings, for the 3 nights. Receptionist handled it very good and flexible.
Room was nice and clean.
Every staff member (cleaners, receptionists an restaurant staff) was as friendly as can be. Compliments!
The hotel & restaurant have a wonderful atmosphere. And good value, due to the bookings offers ánd the discount on food, being a hotelguest.
On my next tour I will certainly book again for some nights.
Over all a nice place they didn’t have one menu item we wanted but that was due to menu changes the next day. They added extra chicken in to a meal by accident but then refunded the item no problem. I ordered dessert and that also got put through wrong. However we kept the dessert and was given the original pudding that I wanted the waitress was lovely and very apologetic even with the mess about. I would definitely come again
Went here yesterday for our evening meal as we were staying in the area for a few days.
Lovely place, lovely food. The only negative was we hadn't finished our starters when the lady brought out our main meal!
She said" oh I was told to bring these over". We just said " just leave them we nearly finished our starter".
So a word to Brentwood: Make sure customers have finished their starters first!
I went here last month for a meal with my friend and the food was lovely but the young girl that served us was so polite and helpful. She couldn't have been any older that 17/18 and her service was fab. Made our trio a nice one
