About This Pub

Ah, The Mailcoach – it's one of those classic pubs in Rotherham that you might stumble upon and think, 'This could be a hidden gem.' From what I've gathered, it's brilliant for keeping things affordable; you can nip in for a pint without worrying about the wallet, which is perfect if you're gearing up for a footy match or just want something straightforward. The friendly vibe stands out too – there's talk of great banter and a welcoming crowd that's kept folks loyal for years, giving it that proper community spirit. On the downside, though, it's not all rosy; some have mentioned it's a bit grubby, with a whiff that could make you queasy, and there are complaints about the heating not being up to scratch, especially when it's busy. Plus, it seems to have lost some of its old sparkle, feeling a tad quiet and lacking energy compared to its heyday. All in all, if you're after a budget-friendly spot for a casual catch-up, it might hit the mark, but I'd say go in with your eyes open to the rough edges – it's got charm, but it needs a bit of TLC to really shine.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Inexpensive drinks make it a great spot for a quick pint, especially before a match.
  • The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with plenty of banter that keeps things lively.
  • It's got that loyal, community feel, with regulars who've been coming back for years.
Cons
  • The place can be quite filthy and has a nasty smell, which might turn you off straight away.
  • Heating issues during busy times mean it can get uncomfortably cold, particularly for older visitors.
  • It lacks the vibrant atmosphere it once had, feeling a bit flat and lifeless these days.

Dont put heating on!!! some folk get away from home , as they are cold! Pubs should put heating on on peak times. Doesnt bother me but could some older folk 👌

A brilliant vibe. One place, that's on the Rotherham finest list in my opinion. Warm friendly. Been a customer for the last 10 years. Yet I'm a West ham fan lol. They give brilliant 👏 banter

Disgusting. Absolutely filthy place, and the rancid smell is enough to make you puke on entry and run a mile. Cheap beer but it gave me a stomach upset. Cups / pipes must not have been cleaned properly. Won’t ever come back even if it was free. Thinking about that smell just making me nauseas.

This pub use to be one of the busiest and best pubs in Rotherham years ago. Although it looks nice inside, it lakes life to what it once had many moons ago. No atmosphere anymore, a shame really.
