About This Pub

Ah, the Boat & Horses – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you walk in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or sorting out a bigger do like a wake or wedding. The real ales are top-notch, and at such good value, you'd be hard-pressed not to enjoy a few. That beer garden's a real treat too, especially on a nice day, and with live music and all sorts of community events on offer, it's got that proper local hub energy. On the flip side, it's a bit of a letdown that they don't do food themselves – you're left hoping for a food van to turn up, which isn't ideal if you're after a bite with your drink. Still, it's managed a solid 4.3 rating, and from the recent reviews, folks are raving about the atmosphere and how it's a true British pub at heart. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit for a relaxed catch-up with mates, just plan ahead for grub!

Pros and Cons

Fantastic little pub. Excellent real ale. Friendly welcome. Has a large beer garden and function room, the interior is tidy and clean. Does not do food but has food vans visiting, check website before visiting. Also does live music. Just off the canal path in Rylands Beeston near the humpback bridge. Cycle parking in the beer garden. Well worth a visit.

Our recent visit was bittersweet as it was a wake for one of our best friends. However, the staff laid on a lovely spread and accommodated us all really well. We had a lovely time with friends and families. The team was very helpful and friendly. The pub itself is very good with plenty on offer. Apart from ourselves the pub seemed very popular. We have been a few times before and always have a nice time. I would certainly recommend it.

Love this pub. We moved to the area 2 years ago. The owner was the first person who greeted us. Very friendly. All about helping the local community. There is always lots of activities on. Wish this business all the best.

The Boat and Horses is a rare reminder of what a British pub ought to be - a warm, welcoming focal point for the community, not just a place to drink but a place to belong. There’s something reassuringly familiar about the atmosphere the moment you walk in. Pubs like this used to be the heartbeat of the neighbourhood - where friendships were forged, local news was swapped, and no one stayed a stranger for long. What truly sets The Boat and Horses apart, though, is its team. From the first greeting to the last sip, they treat you less like a customer and more like a guest in their home. Friendly without being intrusive, efficient without rushing you, their warmth feels genuine - and it spreads. The drinks selection is solid, with well-kept ales and a decent choice of wines and spirits. But it’s the people and the place together that make it sing. In a time when many pubs feel like replicas of themselves, stripped of soul and staffed by whoever’s available, The Boat and Horses is the kind of establishment that restores your faith. It’s not trying to be trendy. It’s trying to be true - and it succeeds.

We went to a friend's wedding, the landlord was wonderful and welcoming the drink prices are very good value indeed. We only had the wedding food so I can not comment on the pubs usual menu. Well worth a pint.
