About This Pub
Ah, the White Lion – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its unpretentious charm and that homely feel you don't find everywhere these days. I have to say, what really stands out is their fantastic array of real ales; whether you're a fan of Lincoln Green's core range or fancy trying something from a guest brewery, there's always something to tempt you. The staff are an absolute delight, always polite and eager to make recommendations, which adds to the welcoming vibe – it's like chatting with old friends over a drink. Plus, being family and dog-friendly means it's versatile for all sorts of visits, and the outdoor seating is brilliant on a sunny afternoon, especially with the occasional live music to liven things up. They've got some solid food options too, like those delicious bar snacks and great value deals, and from what I've heard from others, it's spot on for events with tasty buffets that leave a lasting impression. On the flip side, it's a compact space, so it can get a bit cosy when it's packed, and if you're hoping for a more extensive menu, you might find it lacking – it's more about the drinks and simple fare here. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone in Beeston looking for a relaxed spot to unwind, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go for that authentic pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of real ales is absolutely spot on, with eight handpulls featuring Lincoln Green's brews and some cracking guests from other independents – perfect for ale enthusiasts.
-
The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a chat, which really makes you feel at home.
-
It's wonderfully family and dog-friendly, so you can pop in with the little ones or your furry friend without a second thought.
-
They've got a cosy vibe with outdoor seating and even host live music, making it a great spot for a relaxed catch-up or a special occasion.
-
The food hits the mark with tasty bar snacks and deals like two mains for £20, plus they've impressed for events with fresh buffets and pies that sound divine.
Cons
-
It's a tad on the small side, so on busier evenings, it might feel a bit snug and you could struggle for a seat.
-
The food options are more limited to bar snacks and the odd special, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to look elsewhere.
-
It doesn't always have that lively buzz, especially if you visit at quieter times, which could make it feel a touch subdued.

Good range of beers and staff are polite and friendly.
Chicken, Stilton and brocoli pie absolutely detectable, amazing! Staff are welcome and a nice friendly atmosphere 😊 Mondays currently 2 for £20 on mains - well worth the money
Tried this pub for the first time as we usually go to The Star. It’s a nice friendly vibe pub with good range of ales, beers and spirits. Not a large pub but spacious enough. Wasn’t really busy when we visited on Saturday evening - but busy enough to create an atmosphere. Didn’t eat here so cannot comment on food.
A huge thank you to Dave and his staff for providing a really delicious buffet for my Mum’s funeral reception yesterday - including freshly cooked ham off the bone, a variety of cheeses with a fruit platter and warm home cooked pizzas.
The White Lion was the perfect cozy, traditional and intimate venue for our family and friends gathering and the team looked after us so well - highly recommended for the food and care taken in making sure everything was just right for us on the day. 5 star all the way!
Excellent classy venue!! We had a family gathering for my son’s baptism followed with a delicious buffet. Staff and manager were exceptionally kind and welcoming to all of us. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect venue, we were really impressed with the food, staff, outdoor area and how we had a section of the pub at no extra cost. Food was very well priced. Would definitely choose this venue again for further celebrations :)
