About This Pub

Ah, The Victoria in Beeston – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its genuine, welcoming vibe and that classic traditional charm. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a cosy atmosphere, whether you're settling in for a pint in the bar or grabbing a table outdoors. The food is a standout; they've got this ever-changing menu of home-cooked goodness, with heaps of options for veggies and vegans, and everything from burgers to curries that leave you wanting more. And don't get me started on the drinks – with 14 real ales on tap and a brilliant whiskey selection, it's a haven for anyone who appreciates a good pour. The staff are absolute gems, always on hand with a smile and quick service that makes you feel looked after. On the other hand, it does have its downsides; the place fills up fast, particularly on Sundays, and that means waits for your meal can stretch on, which isn't ideal if you're in a rush. Booking a table is a must for peak times, as space is limited and they only hold it for 20 minutes, and it's a shame they don't have highchairs for families with toddlers. Plus, a few folks have mentioned those draughty spots that might nip at you in winter. All in all, it's a brilliant spot for a relaxed catch-up over drinks and a bite, but I'd say plan ahead and go with the flow to make the most of it – it's got that special something that keeps you coming back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The welcoming atmosphere and traditional setting make it feel like a proper cosy local spot.
  • Fantastic food with a rotating menu of home-cooked dishes, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, and tasty desserts to boot.
  • An impressive drink selection, including up to 14 real ales, an extensive whiskey menu, and more, so there's always something new to try.
  • Friendly and attentive staff who keep things running smoothly and add to the homely vibe.
  • Dog-friendly with both indoor and outdoor seating, plus it's conveniently located near the train station with free parking for a couple of hours.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially on weekends, leading to long waits for food that might put a dampener on your visit.
  • Reservations are limited and space is tight during peak times, so you'll need to book well in advance to secure a table.
  • No highchairs on offer, which could make it tricky if you're out with young children.
  • Some areas might feel a bit draughty, particularly near the doors, so it could get chilly on cooler days.

Great pub, traditional setting with indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely staff. Parking 2h free in front of the house. Had the beef burger, greek salad, Lincolnshire sausages and the tandoori chicken korma. Latter was so tasty - thanks chef! Spoilt for choice on the beer front. Super place, will be back.

The place is full of charm and the menu is amazing - there really is something to please everyone. Eleven of us plus 2 little boys enjoyed a delicious lunch, though as it was Sunday and the place was packed there was a long wait for the meal to arrive. When it was time to order dessert we were asked to move as our table was booked by others. By this time there were several free tables which could have seated the newcomers so it seeked odd to be asking us to move. We paid up and left. It left a sour taste: a shame when the pub is a delight and the food is great. I'd recommend if in a smaller group, or going at a less busy time.

If there were more subject areas, I'd give those 5 stars too. This is a lovely pub straight off the Beeston Train Station platform. The staff are welcoming and the food is delicious and varied. There's an area to bring your dogs in a spacious outside covered seating area, and inside there are several rooms to drink and another dining area (booking on busy days is advised). It has many curios within and was once a hotel. It's only a 15 minute walk to the ARC cinema and a short train ride from Nottingham station. This is a fantastic place and i can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent whiskey and local/guest beer and cider menus and the food alone is worth the trip. Lovely atmosphere with the open fire and original features, would only benefit from sealing the doors shut to prevent a draught but that might cause a problem with access... One of the best pubs in Nottingham.
