About This Pub

Ah, Bask in Stockport – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you get past the front door. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff are absolute gems; they're efficient and make you feel right at ease, which is just what you want after a long day. It's brilliant for sports fans too, with a couple of TVs always on, so you can kick back with a pint and catch the latest match without any fuss. The food's generally spot on, and the prices are fair enough that you don't feel short-changed. Plus, it's got that inclusive feel, especially if you're a bit older and tired of the rowdy scenes elsewhere – it's like a cosy spot where you can actually have a proper chat. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales of the door staff being a tad rude or turning people away for what seems like no good reason, which is a real shame and could spoil your night before it even starts. Then there's the odd frustration with the TVs getting changed willy-nilly, or finding out that food's not available late when you'd hoped for a bite. And while most meals are fine, there might be the occasional dry sandwich that leaves you wishing for a bit more effort. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a catch-up, but keep an eye out for those little niggles to make the most of your visit – it's worth giving it a go if you're in the area, as long as you're prepared for the odd off day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really friendly and efficient, always making you feel welcome and looked after.
  • It's a great spot for catching the game with multiple TVs showing sports, perfect for a relaxed evening.
  • The food hits the mark most of the time, with decent prices that won't break the bank.
  • The atmosphere feels inclusive, especially if you're looking for a place that suits a more mature crowd without the hustle of younger spots.
  • They stay open late, giving you plenty of options for a proper night out in Stockport.
Cons
  • There have been a few instances of door staff being a bit abrupt or refusing entry over nothing much, which can put a damper on things.
  • Sometimes the TVs get switched without a second thought, leaving folks miffed if they were settled in for a particular match.
  • Food isn't always on offer late into the evening, even though the website might lead you to expect it.
  • The odd dish can fall short, like a dry sandwich that could do with a bit more love in the kitchen.

Wouldn’t even give them one star. Attempted to come here for a couple of drinks for my mum’s 70th birthday however we was refused as we got to the door as apparently we was swaying walking upto the place, I asked was the bouncer being serious and replied extremely rude that he was. I’ve heard so many good things about this place but I have no intentions of returning after this!!

Sat in front of a screen watching the build up to the Champions league. Someone asks for the Newcastle game and they changed it immediately without thought for anyone else. No apologies. No concerns. We weren't the only ones annoyed. They don't sell food this late despite the website suggesting otherwise

I visited here for lunch with a friend, and had a lovely time. The food was good, though my toastie was a little dry. Some sauce on the side would have resolved this. My friend's sandwich was spot on though. The service, drinks, and prices were all excellent. My friend wanted a cocktail, but wasn't sure which one to have, so the girl behind the counter made her her favourite. And it was delicious. This place has a nice, chilled-out vibe, and is great for a bite to eat and some drinks.

I’ve been so many times as a customer and have always been happy coming, now I’m 30 I always felt a bit too old for some bars in Stockport so when here opened I was happy as it seemed to attract the same age, I’ve also recently just done a balloon set up here as part of my business and the owner was lovely, offered me a drink which you don’t get in many venues & the security guard offered me a hand with carrying the heavier items like the sailboard! 🥹 Thank you!
