About This Pub
Ah, The Wellington – it's one of those pubs that just grows on you the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place has this fantastic homely feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening, with a great mix of ales and affordable Guinness that keeps everyone coming back. I love how the smoking area's turned into a bit of a social hub for chats, and the quirky decor inside is a proper surprise after the plain exterior – it's like stepping into another world. The staff are spot on now, all friendly and efficient, which is a relief after hearing about those slower days. On the flip side, it might not look much from the outside, and if you're in a rush, the odd service hiccup could still pop up, but overall, it's a brilliant spot for a relaxed night out. If you're popping by Stockport, it's dead handy near the station, and with live bands and that sunny beer garden, you're in for a treat – just go with an open mind and you'll have a cracking time.

It has one of the most relaxing smoking areas in Stockport, and you can occasionally end up having lovely chats with people there — and the period in which staff were remarkably slow to serve people seems to finally be over
Lovely homely atmosphere, good ales, cheap Guinness, pork scratchings, sheltered smoking area
The antic radios and environment gives that beautiful ambience not forgetting the lovely gentleman serving us. I enjoyed the live band too. And thank you for keeping my partners bags when he forgot them after having a beautiful time.
If I could give The Wellington more than 5 ☆ I would!
Exterior deceives the eyes to what beholds inside. It's a standard (dare I say drab) black & white exterior but inside is so, so different. Very quirky but enormous time has been taken to source themes to fill the inside. Loads of lovely mirrors, some wonderful old televisions & radios, clocks; the list is endless. It's a big interior so doesn't feel clatered. An assortment of seats; all comfortable. Outside in the patio are some fabulous pub memorabilia; pub signs from other pubs etc.
At least 2 real ales on tap🍺
Staff very friendly
It's only about 5' minutes easy walk from Stockport railway station.
A MUST VISIT
Loved it. Nipped in on Sat teatime with family. Very easy on the eye inside & it takes you by surprise really. Great for Stockport station too just across the road past Grand Central. V pleasant staff.
Popped in again March '22 in the sunshine. Enjoyed the very pleasant courtyard beer garden. Great nick bitter. Top staff. What a gem the Welly is. Perfect pub. The entrance/front exterior betrays what lies inside. Recommended.
