About This Pub
Ah, The Armoury – it's one of those pubs that really captures the spirit of Stockport, tucked away near the train station and the football ground, making it perfect for a pre-game pint or just meeting mates. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the atmosphere is spot on; it's welcoming and open, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel looked after, whether you're there for a quick drink or to enjoy their homemade food that's getting loads of praise for its taste and generous servings. The beer garden sounds like a gem for relaxing with a cold one, and it's great that it's dog-friendly too – always a plus for us animal lovers. On the flip side, though, a couple of folks have mentioned it needs a good tidy-up in spots like the toilets and outdoor areas, which does take a bit away from the overall charm. Also, with the kitchen closed mid-week and a pared-back menu on match days, it might not suit everyone all the time. Still, with such high marks from regulars, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those points in mind for a balanced outing!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Armoury is such a welcoming community spot in Stockport, with a real sense of warmth that makes you feel right at home, especially if you're popping in for a match or a casual catch-up.
-
Their food is an absolute highlight – freshly made sauces and generous portions that leave you satisfied, like that munch box everyone's raving about.
-
You've got a fantastic selection of drinks on offer, from cask ales and lagers to gins and cocktails, plus it's dog-friendly and has a lovely beer garden for those sunny days.
-
The staff are brilliant, always attentive and up for a chat, making every visit feel personal and enjoyable.
-
It's conveniently located near the train station and football ground, with extras like wheelchair access and nearby EV charging that make it easy for everyone to drop by.
Cons
-
It could do with a bit more attention to cleanliness in places, like the toilets and beer garden tables, to keep everything feeling fresh and inviting.
-
The kitchen's only open from Thursday to Sunday, which might disappoint if you're keen for a meal earlier in the week.
-
On match days, they switch to a reduced menu, so options might be limited when things get busy, which is a shame if you're after the full experience.

Been to the Armoury a few times and it never disappoints. Went this weekend to specifically try the food and wow it was amazing. We went for the munch box which was huge between two people, and everything in it was 10/10 in terms of taste and freshness. It came with fried chicken, salt and pepper chips, hash browns and mac and cheese - a must try it was so delicious!
The bar staff were amazing friendly, so attentive and welcoming, it was an all round nice atmosphere in the pub. Will deffo be back again soon!
Awesome friendly little boozer, great range of cask and keg plus quality back bar selection. Ran by a lovely couple, sports friendly and also very welcoming to dogs :). Food is banging and great portion size for the price, whole heartedly recommended.
Really nice pub. Recently refurbished. Unfortunately it does need a good clean. The toilets seem to have not been cleaned in a long time. The tables in the beer garden were filthy and it smells really musty in the pub itself. Service was great. Didn't eat any food. Just drinks.
Amazing food and a really friendly pub - gotta love a Dizzy Blonde on a weekend too!
The atmosphere in this pub is always lovely, it feels so welcoming and open anytime I've visited. The staff provide attentive service and are super easy to talk to, no request seems too big, I really appreciate their consideration for their customers.
Not to mention the food was incredible, portion sizes are always generous and it came out only 10 minutes after ordering so it was perfectly hot & presented really nicely (even for how quickly it was made!). I tried the torchic sandwich and some of the new fries they offer; I would be coming to their kitchen every day if I lived closer! Thank you for a great experience, and to the owners for running such a lovely place
