About This Pub

You know, when I popped into the Artisan Bar, it just had that cosy, timeless feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening – it's like stepping into a classic Scottish local that's managed to keep its charm through the years. The folks behind the bar are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which really adds to the atmosphere, especially if you're there for a sunny pint or to watch the game. They've got a solid range of drinks on offer, and at such reasonable prices, it's easy to see why it's popular with both locals and visitors. On the downside, though, it does lean towards that neighbourhood pub style, so if you're hoping for something a bit more lively or with a modern twist, it might not quite hit the mark. All in all, it's a reliable spot for a good time in Edinburgh, and I'd say it's well worth checking out if you're after an honest, down-to-earth experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home, chatting away like you're old mates.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and drinks, with something for everyone to enjoy.
  • It's a proper traditional pub with a lovely ornate exterior and interesting decor that gives it real character.
  • They show live sports on Sky and BT, which is brilliant if you're keen on catching the footie or other matches.
  • Prices are really affordable, making it an easy spot for a casual night out without spending a fortune.
Cons
  • It has a strong local feel, so if you're after something more vibrant or touristy, it might come across as a bit understated.
  • The website and some details seem a tad outdated, which could make it harder to get the full picture before visiting.

Two lovely friendly ladies behind the bar who actually talk to customers which is so rare these days! Perfect spot for a sunny pint

Love this place. I discovered the pub as a student in 1978 and have come back since then regularly. Good to see that some places have survived all changes. Best wishes!

Seamus and Niall are great guys. Service was fantastic, they were funny, and very good bar men. Can’t wait to get back to Edinburgh to see them again. O’Donnells Pub Harrison, NJ-USA is a big fan of both of these fine men, and Artisan Bar.

A warm friendly welcome and every beer I tried was excellent, I feel it's more a locals bar than a tourist place but a fantastic welcome was given. The decor was traditional and very interesting. I have been in 3 times now but unfortunately my son is moving to Glasgow, but if I'm ever in Edinburgh in the future I'll be popping in.
