About This Pub
You know, when I think about Ye Olde Red Lion, it just brings a smile to my face – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper hidden gem in the Fenland countryside. From what folks are saying, the food is where it really shines; think beautifully prepared dishes with interesting twists on classics, like their standout Sunday lunches or that Lincolnshire Tapas, which sounds like a fresh take on pub grub that'll have you licking your plate clean. The atmosphere is spot on too – imagine sinking into a cosy corner with low beams and a crackling fire on a chilly evening, or heading out to the beer garden for some al fresco dining when the sun's out. It's all about that welcoming feel, with staff who go the extra mile to make you feel at home, sharing a laugh and being dead helpful with the menu. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect; there have been a few grumbles about service slip-ups, like getting stuck with a less than ideal table, which could put a dampener on things if you're not in the mood to roll with it. Still, with such high praise overall and that rich history tied to the place – tales of smugglers and all – it's easy to overlook the minor faults. If you're a pub lover looking for a spot that's equal parts traditional and tasty, I'd say give it a go; it's got that balance of charm and quality that makes for a memorable night out, just keep an eye on the opening times to avoid any surprises.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food is absolutely top-notch, with award-winning dishes that offer a fantastic twist on traditional fayre, like their unique Lincolnshire Tapas – it's always a delight and keeps us coming back for more.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates; they're chatty, helpful, and really add to the homely atmosphere.
-
It's got that charming, historical feel with low beams and cosy log fires in winter, plus a relaxing beer garden for summer days – perfect for a pint and a bite outdoors.
-
The pub's events and theme nights sound like a lot of fun, keeping things lively and giving you plenty of reasons to pop in regularly.
-
Prices are spot on for what you get, offering great value without breaking the bank, especially for quality meals in such a picturesque rural spot.
Cons
-
There can be the odd service glitch, like not getting the best table when you arrive, which might leave you a bit miffed if you're after a prime spot.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid turning up when it's closed – nobody wants that disappointment.

Lovely place - amazing food and friendly staff. We visit every few months and it never disappoints!
Always enjoy eating at this fine pub. Beautifully prepared food with some interesting twists on staple favourites.
Just had the pleasure of a magnificent Sunday lunch....I completely cleaned my plate. Many thanks we'll be back.
**This review has been deleted on google** We had a booking for 12:30pm and arrived early at 12pm. The restaurant was empty but for a handful of diners. The waitress placed us on the worst table for two in the pub. She asked if this table was ok. I said no can we be moved to the table on the other side of the partition wall which was empty. She said no because someone has asked for the table when booking. However there was no reserved table sign on the table. The other tables of two which were better located were all empty as well. I am Indian so did she display unconscious racism by placing us on the worst table. When all the other tables for two were empty. I showed my disappointment in her placing us at this table when the restaurant was empty. She came back be placed us on another table for two which was on the other side of the partition.
After when other white customers for a table of 2 came into the restaurant, they were not placed on the bad table which we were placed on. Even two old white ladies who were there before us weren’t seated at this bad table which is in a pathway to the other tables. They had arrived before us.
I would understand if the pub was busy and then given this bad table. But to offer the bad table to the brown customer is bad practice. I think it’s unfair to be treated this way because of their unconscious racism. This did ruin the meal for me. This was our first time in Bicker. We were on our way to Sandringham for the Robbie Williams concert.
Excellent meal here last night! The service was impeccable!! The staff were so friendly, welcoming, informative about the menu, accommodating and nice and chatty. The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails outstanding! Will definitely come again next time I visit my Mum! Many thanks to them for a lovely evening!
Excellent food, pleasant & helpful staff, reasonably priced! Lovely atmosphere. Definitely want to eat here again!
We’ve now been here a few times & the food is always excellent, we’ve had everything from Christmas Dinner to BBQ food & it is amazing every time! They now have an American Smoker & have been smoking their own sausages for their BBQ today! Those sausages are the best sausages I have ever tasted & even my 1 year old LOVES their food! Staff are so lovely, friendly & very professional. They take pride in their work & it shows! Chef Marcus has a tremendous gift for providing a unique & amazing culinary experience from presentation down to flavour!
They have adapted amazingly well to Covid restrictions & feel very safe eating here with my 1 year old!
Thank you all for your continued hard work & sticking out the pandemic!
